What other woe offers all these benefits including weight loss and has been proven medically to help people suffering from severe illnesses like epilepsy?

---How do You start induction week on a Keto Diet - https://bit.ly/2vepShn info from the originator Dr. Peterson.
---For those timid about fasting - you can start induction week on 72' Atkins here
https://bit.ly/2OB9GQd by Dr. Atkins.

Always ask your physician before starting a new way of eating!
Helpful info I received from my own physician many years ago when I was severely ill, overweight, and could not exercise: (for CICO folks) take your goal weight, add a zero at the end and that should be the calorie intake per day to LOSE weight(for people who are sedentary or cannot exercise for medical reason). So 125 = 1250; 145 = 1450
---If you exercise or are at maintenance level the calorie intake would be more. Always work with your physician or registered dietitian.

Diablo, why are you mocking what is scientifically proven to help people? Are people judging you and your diet the way you are doing to others? Shit, live and let live.

Scientifically proven? Where are the scientific peer reviewed references?

I've only seen anecdotes, pseudoscience, and beliefs. I wouldn't of chimed in again but she said 'our' bodies, not her own.

Isn't that what you see with all diets? Have you read about epilepsy and keto? Pretty interesting. How about eliminating sugar or gluten from your diet. A lot of science behind that. Might not be your way of dieting, but how about supporting others health and achievement s.

@diablo360x dude you need to relax with the keto animosity. Do you genuinely think inserting your snarky and condescending comments everytime someone posts something about low carb is really going to change their minds? Get real and quit trolling.

Separating fact from fiction isn't trolling. If there was nothing but support with misinformation, this forum would remain ignorant. This place needs to get up to speed with MFP and bb.com. Ascend from the dark ages of dieting.

No, you need to move on.

@Diablo360x If you read what I said - I said "We are all individuals and our bodies are different." Do you disagree with that? As for the science, there are plenty of scientific studies that back up a ketogenic diet. I have offered to provide you examples of the studies/research, but as I stated in a previous post with you - you will need access to the research libraries which normally you need to be in med school, a medical researcher or a physician for access. Not everything is available to the public even with the freedom of information act. I also have hard copies of Dr. Atkins original research from Dr. Peterson and others. You can get access to this and it is proven. ------------------------------How can you disagree with all those here who do keto and say it has helped them? This isn't fiction. I have always encouraged you and everyone else on FS regardless of what woe they use. You just only accept the science you want to accept - anything else is irrelevant or fake. A closed mind is one that can never progress or learn. If science went they way you think, there would never be any new developments. -------------So much of scientific history has been proven different because scientists continue to research and find new outcomes. No science is ever fact because at any time a new scientist could during research prove the theory wrong and so on and so forth. To change the topic and to prove a point - what are your thoughts on Pluto?

@Diablo360x here is some info for you - not a scientific study but it is from Harvard.edu I think we can all say Respect for Harvard - or do you have a thing against them as well? https://bit.ly/2F4mSe9

@Diablo360x Here is a research study that is partially available to the public showing the benefits of long-term ketogenic diet - https://bit.ly/2iEHTy4 I am not going to do the research for you. If you look for supporting studies you will find them; if you look for studies that do not support keto, you will find them as well. That is science.

@Diablo360x One more with a whole list of studies for your research - https://bit.ly/2vYLy25

From a CICO perspective, I will not argue keto. But, please be mindful of the information given out about CICO. The calorie count your former doctor and you are proposing in this post are extremely low calories for someone just starting out. When one begins with CICO at higher weights, their TDEE is actually very high because it takes a lot of energy to burn the food being consumed. As a result someone who has a TDEE of say 2500 cals/day can technically eat 2000 cals/day and lose around 4 lbs/month. Of course they will have to adjust those calories accordingly as they begin to lose, because the body's metabolism will slow down the more weight is lost for the CICO person. I am 5'2, 44, and my starting weight was 210. I burned on average about 2300 in the beginning and was able to consume around 1700-1800 cals/day and still lose weight. It's a slower route to go for sure, but a wonderfully sustainable way to lose without feeling deprived. I am not only at goal weight, I am below it now. Also, I have Multiple Sclerosis and keto is not recommended at all for this kind of auto-immune and has no effect regarding reduction in inflammation when the t-cells attack a neural fiber. So, it may good for some autoimmune disease like diabetes, but not for all. I won't speak for keto, but the cals you and your doctor are preposing is a very minuscule approach to CICO and even unnecessary unless you're already starting at a lower weight.

We are not saying keto with cico won’t work. The benefits you feel are the same benefits I feel and I have never done keto (in the beginning when I was misinformed about carbs I did low carb diet)
