What other woe offers all these benefits including weight loss and has been proven medically to help people suffering from severe illnesses like epilepsy?

---How do You start induction week on a Keto Diet - https://bit.ly/2vepShn info from the originator Dr. Peterson.
---For those timid about fasting - you can start induction week on 72' Atkins here

Always ask your physician before starting a new way of eating!
Helpful info I received from my own physician many years ago when I was severely ill, overweight, and could not exercise: (for CICO folks) take your goal weight, add a zero at the end and that should be the calorie intake per day to LOSE weight(for people who are sedentary or cannot exercise for medical reason). So 125 = 1250; 145 = 1450
---If you exercise or are at maintenance level the calorie intake would be more. Always work with your physician or registered dietitian.

Yep, almost 19 years doing this and reading about health and nutrition while helping people lose weight and I'm the dense one talking to a relative newbie. I'm the dense one. 😂

but I can work out all I want,,,, burn all my eaten calories doing cardio and not be hungry because my body knows where to find a food source. when you burn up all your calories you have to eat,,,, your body is screaming for more glucose. that makes a huge difference to someone trying to lose weight. I get up at 3 to 3;30 in the morning, I had my bone broth and an hour later when I am more awake I had a nice steak. 700 calories, by 8;30 I had already burned 500 calories doing my bike cardio then another 100 doing my resistance work. my body naturally burned calories another 120 calories just breathing, so my breakfast calories are completely depleted before 8;30. I did not get back from an appointment until afternoon when I finally felt hungry enough to have some more bone broth. I have been steadily burning fat for hours. a person that depends on carbs would be starving from what I understand from your earlier post after you blasted cardio of your run. totally different, you had to eat, and I don't feel the need. interesting isn't it. when folks eat foods that they have problems with it effects your body internally and interfers with the many complex functions of the body. When we are clean of the problem foods our bodies can work at full function. Best comparison I can say that you may be able to relate to is if your tire is flat the car can not function properly, same type of thing goes on with the disfunction of a problem food on the body. It really is much more than CICO. I am so tired of your cocky immature young view on how the life of other people with food issues should function. Until you walk a few years in the mess we deal with you will remain clueless. We lived with these handicaps and found relief by finding the roadblocks and now have success where for years they have struggled. I don't care if you believe or not, I just wish you would keep your opinions to yourself. Stop dogging people on their personal threads doing what they need to do to have success Write your own and let people that want to comment do so on yours.

There are so many different kinds of dieting methods out there and every single one of them will work. Some may be good , some may be harmful. The person has to find out for themselves and learn by experimenting what works for themselves. Took me forever to figure out what kind of diet works for me and finally found it, and it's my own kind of diet that I follow. Nothing fancy , just simple clean eating and moderation.. Keto is great for my husband because he's prediabetic, Diablo's method would work great for my 2 son's in football.. Me I like eating real food, and some protein smoothies, and other fun stuff. Everyone on here all have great methods for dieting and it's something they can stick with to get healthy..Peace....

Even on keto when you're burning 5.5-6k calories you will be hungry. If not, and you fail to feed you will feel like hell, guaranteed. A 4k deficit over a long period of time would be pretty detrimental, baskington. Again you feel the need to feel attacked about your dieting choices. Do what you need to do to remain on track and quit getting so defensive.

And I've only really noticed an increase in hunger when I'm doing 10 miles of running, lifting weights and riding on a stationary bike at work. Which is why I posted what I posted. I was still in a large deficit even eating 4k calories.

fortunately for me I don't have to fuel a 5000 calorie burn. I could not bear to have to eat that much to live. but that is your choice of a lifestyle. I don't stomp on your thread to tell you how wrong your style is. Your life, your choice. Your long term health. this thread is about another persons choice and why. It works for her and you should not come here and stomp all over her choice, her lifestyle and goals for long term health. simple!

Different diets works for different people and having autoimmune diseases and metabolic disorders will react to diets differently. For me, high fat, low carb isn’t that good. I don’t feel good. I notice, I feel better with a very high protein diet. I still watch calories, because for me CICO with high protein works and I feel good. But for my son, he is type 1 diabetic with celiac disease and a few other food allergies, he does great on a Keto type diet. His numbers are better, he feels better and started growing and his ADD has improved. I couldn’t use the same diet that he eats with myself or my other children because it don’t work for us. So my point is different diets works for different people.

And it's not lecturing but it can feel that way when you're a sensitive person. Kids don't listen to their parents and you won't listen to me until you gain more experience in this game. In my 18 plus years of dieting I've tried it all. I now know it comes down to CICO. I used to believe I needed to eat clean all the time etc. I've done some crazy stuff when it comes to diets. From tuna and lettuce all day to mixing oatmeal, cottage cheese and natural peanut butter. I've learned a lot and am trying to pass my knowledge on to others so that they can skip those phases. If an obese person at the gym was offered free advice from a personal trainer they'd take it. On here it somehow becomes a personal attack and an overweight novice knows more than someone who has done this for close to 2 decades...

The problem is that everyone makes excuses. They say they are different. You didn't eat too much, you were eating in a way that works against your bloodtype/s. It just isn't true when it comes to CICO. In what they can stick to for the long run, yes. But not when it comes to energy in vs. out.

Why is there always an issue like this? Can we all agree that EVERY diet comes down to CICO? If you eat a surplus you’ll gain weight whether you eat all broccoli, all steak or all twinkies. The difference is in how we get those calories. For me skipping carbs makes me emotional, headaches, super tired etc. In a short time I’ve found I do need a lot of protein like hubby but our kids do better on a fairly even diet all around. Those with health issues should of course use whatever diet their dr recommends and works for them. ——————————————————— I don’t always agree with Diablo but he does have way more experience than most of us and I’m willing to consider his ideas even if they don’t work for me. Just like I considered others’ suggestion for low carb but I just couldn’t make it work. Let’s all just take it all as a suggestion/advice and we don’t have to agree or take the advice ;). —————————————-//———— As for studies, research etc... it’s not 100%. Not all of us will fit neatly in with the research subjects and have the same results. I take them with a grain of salt unless all participants are mid 30’s, female, cancer survivors who are moms and have a need of moderate carbs, moderate to high protein and have had my assorted health issues. Somehow I doubt there’s any studies out there that I’d fit in neatly so I listen, think, plan and put into motion suggestions/ideas. We all have to figure it out for ourselves as we are all individuals with different needs :).

@peeperjj While I agree every person's needs are different and suggestions/advice are okay - if requested. Diablo360x and I have had this discussion many times. We both started on here at the same time and I had the same issue with him back in 2011. In 13' I changed my username and yet same thing. So we have a long standing of being at odds. It is not advice when you state your position as fact which he continually does. He believes his way is the only way and everyone better fall in line. I am not so easily bent. His quotes from above - "Kids don't listen to their parents and you won't listen to me until you gain more experience in this game." I am not a child and don't feel he has the right to come to my post to scorn my woe. I see him as an unwanted telemarketer who comes to my door trying to sell goods I don't need nor want and even though I have politely refused many times and asked him not to push his ideology on me any further, he continues to come back thinking I will change my mind. At some point it stops being a suggestion/advice but becomes harassment. He is not a physician but he tries so very hard to 'teach' people that he and only he knows best. ---------------------------------------------------I have been very polite and amicable with him over the years, but enough is enough.

@Diablo360x I have over 30 years of experience with Atkins/Keto. You forget that My doctors started me on this way back in the early 80's. So What I write is NOT as you say "an overweight novice knows more than someone who has done this for close to 2 decades..." I have done it for more years than you, so I do have more experience than you do. It is also MY body, not yours. You are not a medical doctor. You profess yourself as a Personal Trainer which can be done without a degree or min of a 2yr degree. What would you say to a person who comes in at 220# and 7 years later they still have not met their goal weight of 175#? Is their woe working for them? The example is yours Diablo. So sorry, I will always take the advice of my own physician who has a doctorate and extensive training and experience well above your professed knowledge.

Gee I thought this was finally done. I have stated many times my thoughts on people that have problems with certain foods and how they will derail a diet if they are not removed. So why someone that does not suffer from food sensitivities or restrictions for medical needs feel they have the knowledge to direct someone that has lived through it for decades I don't have a clue. I also have decades of experience dealing with food sensitivities. My weight loss on the keto diet has been very slow 3.5 months for 24 or 25 pounds and that is with exercise and definitely a big deficit probably one too big for what I would have liked, in the past. I have food allergies and sensitivities, if I eat those foods, they interfer with my metabolism and slow my weight loss no matter how big a deficit I have. Now that I am doing a clean up, I am struggling to stop the weight loss, it is going too fast for my needs. my foggy brain on those offending foods made me waste a lot of time figuring it all out and going back to what I learned from my original doctor that put me on a restricted diet to get rid of all the foods that caused me problems. Pain is gone, foggy mind is gone, slow weight loss is definitely gone. Food sensitivities definitely effect weight loss. MJgh has different problems that she has to deal with and her restriction of groups of food heals her. I just don't understand why you are dogging her. I will continue to support her. And all the other people who have found that changing their way of eating or what they are eating find that it improves their health and well being. I personally believe there is more to how this all works then simple CICO. Even the scientists don't understand it all.

"Allergies do not make food more calorific. If you need to avoid them because of adverse reactions or because they cause a binge then do so, but do not claim magic happens, Marx." It's like gas for your car. Some vehicles are fine with unleaded but other need 87 octane. And some people buy 93 octane thinking it's better and it does nothing while regular unleaded actually damages the vehicle. It's not more calorific than other foods but is used more efficiently by the body. If your body is producing antibodies trying to fight the protein in Wheat than it is not regenerating cells and building muscle. With your body in defense mode it then produces more antibodies to fight the ones fighting the Wheat protein. That's inefficient and a waste of the potential energy in the food. Cutting out foods that have a reaction make everything run smoother.

@Diablo it's lecturing because you think no one has experience but you. I went on my first diet, Atkins, before you were even born. Just give it a rest.

I always wonder if the junk food industry pays trolls to comment on weight loss websites and post pictures of pizza and ice-cream, donuts and cookies, and then tell you they are losing weight? lol
