carbs being over can definitely take you up and over your calorie goal

Too many carbs throws everything off for me. Besides calories are figured by putting food into an industrial incinerator and burned to ash to gauge the energy. Last time I checked our bodies don't do that. :)

I can’t eat very many carbs and stay under my calories. I try to make them count for good health.

Well both are very Important. If you are doing a low carb you need to make sure you have a set carb number you can take in. Plus you have to make sure it won’t take you over your calorie intake.

carbs #1 for me, it's TOTAL. I tried net and it jacked my blood sugar. I like to average my weekly calories, some days im just more hungry for what ever reason, so I eat more. try to follow hunger, but never add carbs.

For those saying carbs. Yesterday I was just over 50% of calories, around 1050 of 1900, but fairly close to my total carb number, though I prefer net. It was fairly early in the evening yet and worried about hunger. Tried to make some low carb cookies last week. That was a failure as the couple I baked just crumbled apart. Still have the dough in my fridge. Had a little bit of the dough. Not sure how many calories, carbs, etc in it so I didn’t add it to my diary, but any diet the main goal is calories. Fewer calories in the more the body relies on stored fat reserves.

it is also about the quality of the food you put in your body, protein is a high value item, cookie dough has little if any value. So when you are dieting and have a limited number of calories it is better to feed your body the best you can in higher quality foods/ Protein and fat tends to be more filling then cookie dough too. Your body your choices.

Baskington, I have a very nutritious meal replacement shake that I drink in the morning, haven’t had it yet today. With the extremely low calories I had yesterday the little bit of low carb cookie dough, which contains coconut oil, peanut butter, and eggs, I wasn’t worried about the calories or the little bit of carbs. I had more than enough room for the calories and some room for the carbs. I may have hit my carb limit by eating it, but calories are what matter most. I had enough dough for MAYBE 2 cookies.

I do not understand the point of your question. You are going to do what you personally want to do. We gave our opinions for how we feel for us. You are a different person and no one knows what works best for you, only testing with your macros will you fine tune things for YOU>

Staying under carb goal, I don’t even worry about calories when I do low carb, I still continually drop weight quickly just keeping carbs low.
