Fasting a.m. BS = 155; weight = 173.6
Just because the sciatic still hurts doesn't mean I have to eat comfort food. I need to get back on Keto, start slow walking, and take some of the pressure off that nerve!!!
I'm not needing a daily massage now, and was able to sleep through the night last night. The glucose is going down again so I think the nerve inflammation is better too! Now to get through today without comfort food!
Keep on Keto-ing and things will get better, everywhere.
Update: I managed to stick to Keto today, cals 1269; 79/10/11 macros; net carbs 23.42. BS is down to 129 this evening, Yaay! Going to enjoy a hot cup of tea with butter in it, will try the turmeric again tomorrow.

I am so sorry you are still in pain and yes getting back to keto will in most cases relieve the inflammation a bit. I know eating foods that cause me issues just irritate things more

I had sciatic nerve issues for a while because of a bad bed. Took FOR-EVER to go away. Did a lot of stretching and turmeric/pepper/fat tea. It helped but nothing made the pain go away completely except for time and a better bed.

LZenn, what proportions did you have in your turmeric tea? And was it hot peppers you added? I can't do very hot peppers, capsacum, but could find a mild version maybe. I had this type of flare up several years ago when I was dieting strictly, and it took a month of visits to chiropractor before I was half-way past it. Unfortunately we then left for a Hawaiian cruise and it continued to bother for most of that. This time we have that same cruise in November and of course I've been trying to get the weight down before that. I see a pattern here! But this time I think I've learned the culprit -- don't skimp on magnesium rich foods. Would like to try the tea!

I didn't measure the turmeric, really - just added some. Looking back, probably quarter tsp per cup of tea, a few dashes of black pepper (it's black pepper that helps turmeric fight inflammation), and a dollop of coconut oil. The combination of turmeric, black pepper, and a fat of some sort is the anti-inflammation 'potion'.

Thank you! I'll try it now!

I also made a lot of curry with extra turmeric and black pepper during this time.

Checking to make sure I understand this. So, there's no actual tea in this tea? Just the tumeric, black pepper and fat source?

No, I'd add it to tea or coffee or whatever I was drinking. Never did it with just hot water. Not saying you couldn't, but I never did.

Okay, I'll try adding it to my regular tea. Thanks! ☕

Hey, I have a bad back and every time I started to feel more pain than usual, I also like to drink some tumeric, but I prepare a paste and store it in the fridge. You can use fresh tumeric, but I don't like the little pieces in my drink later. So I use powdered tumeric, half of a teacup and one teacup of water, heat it over medium until most of the water is gone, that's done very quick, so be careful. This is my base for my golden milk. I use one tbs of the paste, 200ml Almond drink unsweetened (0.5g carbs /100ml), cinnamon as much as I want to, a little bit fresh or powdered ginger, black pepper and some coconut oil (as LZenn wrote you need this to get those anti inflammation stuff of the tumeric to work) and maybe some sweetener of choice. Heat everything up and enjoy. It's very yummy, helps with my back and it's very comforting to drink when it's cold outside. Just don't use to much tumeric paste in the beginning, it may taste a little bit odd. Greetings from Germany and hope you get well soon.

Thank you. ☺️ I like it very much and really looking forward to it every afternoon, especially if I add some flavored drops (I have some with cinnamon Buns flavor, fits perfect) but not everyone likes artificial flavours, so this is just an extra. 😊 Just be careful, don't drink it to late in the evenings, because even if some people become sleepy and relaxed from the tumeric, some become more awake and those can get some troubles falling asleep, you have to try it out. If this is the case, you should drink it early the day. 🤗

I have some butterscotch and pumpkin flavors. I bet they'd taste good in that milky tumeric drink.
