Okay so I've decided to intermittent fast however it's not as easy as I thought. I was a night eater my entire life and I'm cutting off my eating at 8pm. I know that eating at night is what's making me gain so much weight but self control is harder than I thought! Help me Jesus 😥

I’m a night eater as well. I thought that’s what was causing my weight gain for a long time. The main culprit is how many calories I was eating overall though. If I keep enough of a deficit (500+ cal) I lose about .5 to 1lb a week. You can also IF later in the day if that works with your schedule. Your stomach will shrink from not eating as much and you won’t have room to over do it at night. You’ll figure out what works for you. It’s a lifestyle, so make it work for how you like to live👍🏼 Best of luck to you. You’re doing great!

Thank you for the advice! I was always told that if you eat at night, your metabolism slows and doesn't process it. Maybe if IF during the day doesn't work I'll try at night!

Currently up, it’s 2:00 am and I’m having weird itching attack which only happens when I’m anxious.... fighting the urge to eat!

I thought the same thing Gi_Marie! If you weigh yourself in the morning it could appear that you’ve gained, but that’s all I’ve noticed. I’ve lost almost 50lbs eating this way, and I’m not super young or crazy active. It’s mostly about figuring out how many calories is the right amount for your body to lose weight. Since I’m not eating till later in the day, I wait till the afternoon/evening on an empty stomach to weigh in. I save most of my calories for the end of the day (kinda OMAD, one meal a day but I eat snacks or meals if I’m truly hungry). I get so full sometimes I can’t even eat all of my calories for that day! If I told myself I couldn’t eat at the time that I like to I think I wouldn’t be as successful. If nighttime eating is triggering though, I would say staying away from the kitchen is smart, and closing your window at 8pm sounds supportive.

There’s tons of support and information I’ve gleaned from this community. Be patient and kind with yourself, test things out, and you’ll find a lifestyle that is sustainable💪🏼

That sounds tough Kay! Were you able to settle down and get anymore sleep? I struggle with pretty bad anxiety myself. Half the time I can’t eat anything cause it upsets my stomach, BUT the other half of the time I’m drawn to eat eat eat!

Yup I slept! It’s just my body missing my ed 😝 But I’m in control now

Your body gives you a kick of adrenaline when you first wake up and that will release the energy for your body to work on. This is what farmers work on in the hour or two before breakfast. 🤷🏻‍♀️Most days I get by with almond milk in tea and coffee with flavors to take my meds with throughout the day and then eat from late afternoon to bedtime at 10pm. It lets my bidy digest the food while I sleep. Have lost almost 150 lbs this way since 2015. I have more trouble maintaining now (especially around the Holidays!) LOL 🙋🏻
