Well, tomorrow is the big day for me. I see the surgeon for the first time. I have a few questions for him. Most of them revolve around the side effects of having the surgery. I want to know the worst case scenario in order to make an informed decision. I am already aware of the "normal" possible problems--IE: infection, malnutrition, etc. I'm looking for the what exactly that may mean. I want to know about what dietary deficiencies that are possible and how I can avoid them if I have the surgery. I have questions about how much bowel my surgeon chooses to bypass. This will also determine how much trouble with vitamin deficiencies I would have if I have the surgery. If I have the surgery, I want it to work for me, but I don't want to trade problems. I want one side effect and that is the dumping syndrome. I think this is the only way I can stay away from sugar for a lifetime. I can handle a little hair loss as long as it's not permanent, but I don't want to have issues with iron and calcium deficiencies because those problems cause anemia and osteoporosis, etc. I have a lot of questions that I need to know from him that are specific to how he does the procedure.
