Thousand island dressing today ☹️ I'm trying to get rid of high calorie foods in my home but I'm too cheap to just throw everything out and start new.
Light thousand island dressing is 60 cals but original is 130 !!!!

I deal with this same issue. Unfortunately, by the time I get around to replacing the food in the house, all too frequently, I end up just buying more junk from habit. Do you have a plan that you can stick to so once the bad is gone you don't go back to it?

IMHO, throw the crap out and start fresh! Make the DECISION to change the way you eat, COMMIT to healthy eating, and then DO IT. "Playing around" with unhealthy foods, you can find a million reasons why you will have to start "tomorrow," or "next week," or "when Lent starts," or "Monday," or "the first of the month," or -- or -- or ... till one day you wake up with a disease or a condition that FORCES your hand. It's much better to have a choice and exercise it freely.

I would go out today and buy all new light low calorie alternatives if I had the extra money to do so. I'm not one of those people who turns away from the healthy option, I just have this bottle of thousand island from a party I hosted and I would feel bad just throwing it out. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I do the same!

Discarding unhealthy junk is not "bad." It's not a moral issue. If you plan your meals a few days in advance, buy only what you need, and stick to your eating plan, you'll save money in the long run.

I would just continue to use it up too, then the next time I buy dressing choose the lighter option. But then I'm the kind of person who needs to make tiny changes or it's just too much of a struggle. Some people seem to have the ability and cash to just throw everything out and buy all new stuff and start eating an entirely different way without any struggle at all... I've never met any of them, but since so many people suggest it, it must have worked for SOMEONE, right?

Use it up. Buy some lighter stuff next time. No big deal.

It does not get wasted and I don’t consume it, double win

I feel the same way. I use it up, but I use it sparingly. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Your husband won’t consume the dressing ?

My fiancé isn't into thousand island dressing so I guess I'll use it till it's gone. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Any low calorie homemade dressing recipes?

Just use 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil? It’s probably cheaper than any prepacked drrssjng on the long run because you use less of that per meal

Because it Seems that you work, I’ll make this comment... most that try to do it all do nothing. make your own if you want to or simply buy a better alternative 😉

There are lots of dressing recipes on the internet. I have about 8 that I use frequently. But just Google Keto, or paleo or low fat dressings— depending on what your WOE is and you will find what you need. Another way to control the dressing is to put it on the side of your salad in a small cup and dip each forkful gently into the dressing. Yet a third way is to put a small amount of dressing in the bottom of your bowl and gently fold the salad into the grossing. Better coating, less dressing.

I usually only have olive oil and vinegar on my salad and then I season it up with salt pepper garlic powder, most of the time I don’t even want dressing, it’s so good. But when I do crave dressing, I use the real stuff and water it down quite a lot. The light dressings always taste like chemicals to me.

Lighten up commercial dressing with citrus juice: add lemon, orange or lime juice. I am going through the same thing, trying to get through bottles of dressing!

I know it's hard to just throw things away but someone once said, whether you eat it or throw it away, it's gone. The difference is one helps you lose weight and the other doesn't. Rather than eating it all at once, if it will keep, just use less than you normally would or give it away.

Walden Farms anBolthouse make a couple of descent ones. But if you make a couple yourself they are definitly superior.
