It still exists! But OMG!! I think soda looks like a superfood compared to this... It's literally flavored sugar-water drink mix!

Ohhh wow!! This takes me back to my childhood for sure! Was our choice of drink too, plus koolaid that Dawn mentioned. In the summer, my mom would freeze tang into those popsicle moulds for us. Man, I grew up so unhealthy. It’s amazing I have no diabetes or health issues of any kind! But sometimes, I think, because this was restricted or tagged as unhealthy in our world then, we didn’t really over consume it. And we were super active from morning til night, swimming in the river, biking everywhere, jumping rope, climbing rocks, hiking, skating, climbing up and tobogganing down the hill for hours!!!!! Hmmmmm...activity saved our lives!!!!!

*wasn’t tagged I meant to say... meaning you only truly want something when it’s restricted...usually, right??? IMO anyhow.

How can it be unhealthy if astronauts drank it?

I forgot all about the freezy pops!!! I wish I would have grown up more active. But Miami’s sun and humidity didn’t mix well with my gothic skin and attire 😆😆😆 Outside activities were limited to summer in NC where it was slightly less hot because of all the trees 😅

Dawnie, I grew up in Canada, cold winters and very cool summers. We lived outside, year around. My family didn’t own an igloo!!!!!! Bahahaha!!!!! You lighten get that, sorry. There’s a very ignorant stereotype that we live in igloos...guess we da north have our stereotypes about Americans too, to be honest!!!! 🤣🤣

Beating up on Tang is fun but the reason astronauts drank it is because in the context of an overall healthy diet it won't do you any harm. 😉

if you really want to get into the nerdisms of Tang, like the monkeys before it, it got famous for going into space.
Are Tang, Teflon, and Velcro NASA spinoffs?
Tang, Teflon, and Velcro, are not spinoffs of the Space Program. General Foods developed Tang in 1957, and it has been on supermarket shelves since 1959. In 1962, when astronaut John Glenn performed eating experiments in orbit, Tang was selected for the menu, launching the powdered drink's heightened public awareness. NASA also raised the celebrity status of Teflon, a material invented for DuPont in 1938, when the Agency applied it to heat shields, space suits, and cargo hold liners. Velcro was used during the Apollo missions to anchor equipment for astronauts' convenience in zero gravity situations. Although it is a Swiss invention from the 1940s, it has since been associated with the Space Program.
