I am so ashamed to share this but I feel like if I don’t then I won’t take this seriously. I have gained so much weight over the years and have struggled with depression and over eating. I’ve just starting trying to take control over my life this week. I hope I can stay strong. I also started on a depression medication. I’ve never been on medication. I know it’s no miracle drug or cure all but as terrible as I’ve felt over the past years, anything is better then that. Wish me luck!

My prayers go out to you. I have struggled with chronic anxiety/depressive disorder for many years and it can be very hard especially when it comes to eating. Sometimes you just want to give up and eat a bunch of crap. But Im on medication myself for the anxiety and Ive found the more Ive been exercising the less my anxiety has been. And Sometimes just having my meds with me is enough to stop an attack from happening its just that reassurance. But i will tell you even just getting outside for a walk, light yard work, a local trail to check out the scenery, the beach (one of my favs), is enough to keep it at bay. Not only is it good for you mentally but physically as well. You can do this, if you ever need to talk Im always here!💪🏻🙏🏻❣

So many get rid of depression by simply eliminating plant foods in their diet. Usually completely disappear in a matter of days or a few weeks. It lend the thought that certain elements of plant foods darken the mind. Just wanted to share this. Self blame can be painful, and potentially completely unjustified. It could simply be caused by a sensitivity to certain plants.

Another thing is sunlight. If you go into this theme, you'll find that it act as a battery charger for out bodies. Even on cloudy days. Back in the 1969s they knew blue light had a very dulling effect on us. You can get free blue light apps that limit blue light exposure from late evening.

Me TOO!!! I’m right there with you honey. We spend so much time giving to others; my husband passed after a 10 year illness and I’m now trying to shed those calories I swallowed trying to be happy. Ugh! I need to lose 35 lbs and I’m down 4 already! We can do this!!!

Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that often requires medication to correct. You are very courageous for speaking out and getting help. As Diddlee said, sunlight and diet changes along with exercise can also be quite therapeutic. I hope you start feeling better soon. I am sure your doctor told you it takes 3 to 4 weeks for the medication to take effect. I have found this site very supportive. Most of us share your unhealthy relationship with food, so we get it. Hang in there and thank you for sharing.

Yes, the tunnel can be long, but there is light at the end. I have had the same problem and now the weight is effecting my health. Need to loose it.

I think depression is a thread that runs through all obese people. I have stuggled with it and bone crushing lonliness, in my marriage and out of it. The trick is it put the association of comfort from food in it's box. I have been able to learn how to separate food from emotions **most of the time**. That does not mean all the time, but I have lost 64 pounds and NEVER thought I could do it. I hope this helps you.

You can learn about different kinds of diets on Youtube. But sugar and all the carbs that turn to sugar in your body, grains, rice, soda pop, starchy vegetables, high sugar fruit, etc. make most people depressed. Wheat is a particular problem because it has been changed/hybridized about 1,000 times in the last 100 years so our bodies don't even recognize it, so it creates a lot of inflammation Give up junk food and sugar. What kind of diet are you planning on going on? Keep sharing to get support here. We all wish you the best.

Often times it's hard to balance your physical well being with your mental well being. When food is used for comfort it magnifies the struggle and depression. After years of debating with myself, I finally admitted to my doctor that I was struggling and he perscribed a mild anti-depressant. It isn't a cure all and there are days I eat like it's my last meal but I'm not giving up. The support here is great and I have every confidence you will succeed. I wish you well.

One more thought - there is no shame in addressing a struggle and asking for help.

Hey Brittinie!! I am very proud of you for taking the first step!! Try IF to lose weight. You feel hungry only the first two, to three days and then your body feels good and you start to lose fat!! I do the 8/ 16 everyday. I eat from 2pm, (I have lunch at 2pm )to 9pm. (9pm I have dinner.) Then I don't eat anything except black coffee, green tea and water till 2pm the next day. But you can eat anything nutrient rich, and there's no portion control either. You could chose any 8 hr. Window. Exercise everyday, walking, some cardio and some body weight exercise. Good luck! Keep us posted! We are all with you!
