Induction Day 5:

Good Morning Fellow FSers!!

For breakfast this morning, I cooked 2 eggs, put each of them in a romaine lettuce leaf, put real bacon bits on it, and put some low carb cheese spread on them. I had 3.7C so far!! YAY! I can feel this getting easier and easier. My neighbor gave me 1/2 dozen cookies for the boys in my house, and I didn't give into temptation and eat any of them! I did have a dream that I ate a box of mac and cheese, and some cookies, and spaghetti o's and I was so mad at myself for giving into my addiction, and having to start over on induction! My dream scared me away from high carb foods for a while! LOL.

I will add in my food as the day goes, and I hope that everyone has a wonderful day full of smiles and laughter! Good luck to all you Atkins followers... WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

For lunch... I had pork with 1 cup of spinach, 1/4 motz cheese, 1 tbsp of ranch dressing, and some flaxseed. total lunch carbs were 2.25

Total so far today... 5.95C

I went for a nice long walk to the store to buy pork rinds, then walked back home... drank 3 tall glasses of water, and had some of my new snack... and yet my carbs are still at 5.95C

Well, I made my son some chocolate milk, and it was getting to me, so I put a cup of water in the microwave til it was hot, and added a teaspoon of bakers chocolate powder and some splenda and had a low carb hot chocolate. Not the best tasting thing, but gave me the chocolate that I was craving... in the end it had about 3C's and I had some left over pork for dinner, which was 0C... so for the day, I am at about 9C's!! YAY!

I have been trying to keep my carbs to 10C's or less.. and this week, I think I have done that! I cant wait til day 14 of induction just to do a weigh in!! I need to get a measuring tape so that I can start keeping track of inches lost too, because I have been walking a lot and exercising way more than I used to, so I think that even if the weight doesn't come off, some of the fat may be turning to muscle, and I will be losing inches. I can't really gage it by my clothes, because most of the jeans that I own were already too loose. The way my body is shaped, in order to get them to fit in the thighs, they are too loose in the waist, but after an hour of wearing them, they are loose everywhere and it drives me nuts!! I need to do this diet for my health, both mental and physical. I enjoy my long walks, either putting my son in his stroller, or when daddy isn't working, I go by myself with my mp3 player, and enjoy my time alone.

I went to the Dollar Tree today and bought some stuff for cleaning and organizing my house, and I got a pedometer. I think this will really help me! My goal is to become more of a "house wife" for lack of better wording. I used to be so lazy, and never wanted to pull myself away from the computer or TV long enough to get anything done. This causes conflicts... conflicts with myself, for then feeling poorly about not doing anything, and conflicts with my boyfriend, because he works 12 hour days and busts is @$$ to support us, and then comes home to a messy house. I want to keep it clean, and be able to keep up with my son... This diet is already helping with that! I am starting to feel so much better, and so in control, its almost ridiculous! After I get used to the diet, and it becomes less stressful, and I have 50 lbs off, I am going to work on quitting smoking... as I can only do one thing at a time! I am realizing that with Atkins, I can still enjoy life, and enjoy food.

Sometimes I feel like standing up and announcing "My name is Leah, and I am a food addict". I am trying to kick the addiction... without having to give up everything I love. I struggle with giving up sweets, so if anyone has any recipes for me, for low carb sweets... please pass them on. I need to go get some heavy cream, as I am out, but I found a low carb "ice cream" recipe in an Atkins recipe book that I really want to try... and I was thinking today, that if I took some HC which I have found some that had 0C's (not sure if they all are, but I was reading that some had 1C per serving)anyways... if I took about 1/4-1/2 cup of HC and some splenda, and a little bit of low carb bakers chocolate, and put it in my Magic Bullet blender/food processor until firm and totally mixed, then stuck it in the freezer for a while, I would have a chocolate ice cream. I would only make one serving at a time, because I do not trust myself.

I also found that the flaxseed that I got is 0C, so I was thinking that I could make chicken nuggets, by rolling small pieces of chicken in a beaten egg, then roll it in some flaxseed, and fry them up. I think that might be a good alternative to nuggets.

Any creative ideas to keep my food addition satisfied are welcome!!

Well, I hope that everyone had a wonderful day, I need to get the munchkin ready for bed, and get some housework done for the night. I should be back in the morning, but more than likely we are going out of town this weekend... so I may be gone til monday! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Good job on not giving in to those cookies calling your name! And OMG that nightmare you had! Isn't it something how food can affect us in so many ways.

That is funny because I think most of us have had that first-week-of-induction dream. In mine I was eating chocolate cake. LOL. Maybe it's a sign that you're in ketosis. Keep up the good work!

Oh my - I have food dreams sometimes, too. I remember having one during my very first week where I just couldn't stop myself from eating. I remember that I was so MAD at myself and when I woke up, it had been so real I had to check the kitchen to see if I really had eaten that gallon of ice cream!!! ha! There are some great recipes in the back of the Atkins book and I love to use some of the recipes on foodnetwork.com. Just do a low-carb search. But I think you're doing EXACTLY what you need to do - experimenting and creating your own things!! You're doing great!

Leah, you are doing AMAZING!!! You can hear the difference in your journal. You are smart to get the tape measure. There were times when my weight went up but my inches went down. The weight followed later. I'm not losing in huge amounts but I am losing and I am sure that you will find that you have once you weigh yourself. I'm off to make supper. Trying a new fish recipe. I love fish but Henry only likes it if it is fried and has fries with it. I am trying to get some exercise in however definitely not doing as well as you are. I am finding it difficult with the amount of work that I have right now. Any how hubby gets cranky when hungry so I better go.

I can't take credit, it belongs to Lorik but if you get Hodgson Mill Soy Flour, it has 4 net carbs per serving (1/4 cup, I think), you can use it for nuggets, chicken parm or whatever you'd like. It's very good.
