Aghhh! Plumbing. Not mine; the house. Went downstairs to feed the labs and the deep sink was backed up. I tried all the easy ways to unclog it: vacuum attachment - sucking AND blowing;tried blowing it out with water pressure (another one of those useless attachments that I bought hoping it would work when I needed it - didn't. The only thing liquid plumber breaks loose is my hold on my money. Had to do what I always end up doing: taking the fitting loose and snaking the drain out. I've either got to quit bathing the doggie, or make it easier to clean out the plumbing. Unfortunately, the doggie's skin disorder requires that I bathe him at least twice a week, and he loses a lot of fine hair. So that means that there is plumbing in my future. Heavy sigh.

Had chili tonight with a few crackers. I love chili con carne when it's made right. Tonight, it was made right. Just a touch of insanity sauce made it oh so good. I think there's quite a bit of calories in it, so I probably won't take it to work tomorrow - even though I could eat chili every day. I guess it's a guy thing. I think I'm going to make up some tuna salad and wrap it up in romaine lettuce for lunch tomorrow; sounds pretty good. Still managed to get on the treadmill for a half hour after I got done with the plumbing.

Everyone have a great and wonderful evening, and I hope to chat with you all tomorrow. Toodles!

So not a guy thing... I freaking love chili, and a friend brought me back some Insanity Sauce, which MAKES it.

Don't they have something you can put over the drain like a strainer to help with the amount of dog hair that goes down?

I have a good hair filter for mine. During the bath I have to scoop it clear to let the water down, but it works wonders... But snaking the drain sounds cooler. LOL

Hey Dairyking..this is a Aletha, AJHR..have you tried Kelp for your dogs skin problem? My dog has itchy skin also, and I was told to put 1/4 tsp. of dried Kelp on his food daily..it should clear it up rather quickly, but you have to do it every meal...mine likes the stuff...just and FYI..xoxox

Ughhh plumbing makes my head hurt. On a positive note, at least you can handle it yourself and don't need to call a plumber every time!

Thanks Aletha; I'll give that a try. I do have strainers, one that goes in the drain, and another one that goes over it; whatever this doggie has makes him shed really fine hair that I can fill half a coffee cup with after the bath. Not that I plan on drinking the stuff - relax; it's just an illustration of the volume. :D I'm using a prescription shampoo on him, and having to put lotion on him afterwards. It would probably be a lot better if I was disciplined enough to do it more often.

Boo for the plumbing! I detest all kinds of household maintenance disasters! LOL! Something tells me you are pretty handy at resolving issues. Hope your day goes well!

Hey buddy..they have screens for tubs..that will catch most of the hair..Also Head and shoulders works well for dogs too...my sister was buying the expensive stuff and her Vet to her she should use that instead..works as her dog has allergies and is always scratching and licking enough to make a sore..she tried it and it worked..her little dog doesn't itch no where near as much..its worth a try...:O)

Not sure what the issue is, but you could also try oils with the dogga food, such as olive, grapeseed, flax... whatever is natural of course. Our pooch can fill a tub with super fine fur, too, but luckily there's no skin issues making baths more urgent for her-just her STINK. There's also an aveeno-esque doggy shampoo you could try! Good luck with that... I think we might have vegetarian chili in our near future.... Happy Weekend!
