I've been awake since 3 am, it's 6 am now. I had five good hours of sleep until Beau wanted breakfast, then my foot hurt too much to go back to sleep. I tried my Self-Compassion cd, snuggling with my partner, nothing helped, so here I am! Good morning!
My new podiatrist was great, quickly figured out what was wrong, clearly yet gently explained, and offered me treatment options. The damage to the top of my foot will continue to heal slowly. The painful bump on the sole of my foot is a smallish tear in the fascia, caused when I slammed my bare foot down to catch me from falling after I kicked the metal bar with the top of my foot (while rushing from the kitchen to lania to see a whale that had jumped out of the water).
Soooo, I got a cortisone injection in the bottom of my foot yesterday. It hurt a lot, even with the numbing stuff they shot in at the same time. They did ultrasound to help spread the stuff out & reduce the inflammation. It was weird having my foot numb for hours, then yucky-prickly when it started to wake up. Then the pain....
I have no restrictions on activity as long as I wear good shoes. I wanted to go to afternoon Zumba yesterday but when I tried putting my shoe on my still partially numb foot, I discovered that it was swollen, hot, and hurt like a son-of-a-gun. Sooo, I sat on my butt with ice on my raised foot, caught up on several DVR'd episodes of Touch, and ate too many snacks.
I also took some great pictures of Buddy,the skinny squirrel we've been feeding. Him robbing the hummingbird feeder, him face to face with Beau through the sliding glass door with his little paws up on the glass. My partner's grandson said it looked like he was flipping off Beau! I'm thinking about using the picture of him drinking from the hummingbird feeder to show what I feel like when I can't control my sweet tooth, lol. Yesterday I ate some of my tropical energy bars I froze straight out of the freezers! (Tasted great that way, actually; macadamias crunchier, dried fruit chewier,etc.)
In a little while I'll get up, shower, eat a healthy breakfast, take my pain pill, and go to Zumba. My plan is to may pork white bean hominy stew in the slow cooker; have some prep work done. I'd like to make a tomato and zucchini side dish; I may just ask my partner to bring something home for dinner, like a big smoked turkey salad from Busters's BBQ.
