1st month on FatSecret Analysis: Looking at September (so far) vs. August (also partial month, but enough to get a trend). I'm averaging eating about 200 calories more per day in September than August. About 1/3 of that difference is from 1 day at the state fair. Overall, I generally seem to be eating a little more, not worrying about hitting the daily 2400 calorie goal exactly, but focusing on the higher calorie count of weight loss/weight gain. I'm burning about 2952 calories per day, according to FatSecret, which seems high. So, it's a bit of complacency. We'll have to see how that goes. If I keep losing fat I won't get real concerned if it's a bit slower. The trend is key.
A little analysis on the 3 weight gain days in the last 30, since I started with FatSecret. Key point is that I'm losing weight on 90% of days. That's awesome. I've never done that before as an adult, so it's been more than 20 years. Realistically it was probably fall of 1987 as a sophomore in wrestling since I've done anything like that. Takeaway: Definitely trending the right way, with support of my bride.
Weight Gain Day #1: Nothing special. A little too heavy at lunch with Pizza Hut leftovers combined with 3 helpings of lomein for supper. Moderation in either one, 100 calories different, makes it a small weight loss day.
Weight Gain Day #2: State Fair. Walking around and eating stuff. My most documented calories so far, about 3700. State fair is a caloric nightmare and I actually did better than other years. With the walking around for hours, it was "only" a 500 calorie weight gain. Pretty restrained by past standards. Next year's goal will be to hold it to even, which is very possible, especially with all that walking. It's key for me to hold some "special" occasions to a draw, especially when vacationing, visiting parents, especially at Christmas, with cookies galore.
Weight Gain Day #3: Reasonable breakfast, reasonable lunch of leftovers. Huger overage at supper for 1995 calories. Wow. Creamy, soupy, yummy chicken rice, cream soup, crackery Helgen dish. Calculated calories in the dish with bride and was shocked to find 4000 calories in that pan, 1500 of which I ate, with a sleeve of Ritz crackers. 3 helpings and a sleeve of Ritz crackers is obviously too much. How about 2 helpings and half a sleeve? That's save around 700 calories, turn it into a minor weight loss day, and still get a lot of yummy salty goodness. It would still essentially be without deprivation, which has been a key to early success: Lack of deprivation. I more often eat when I'm hungry and still have the junk, but not as much. Yesterday I lost weight while eating 3 brownies and 3 tbsp of frosting for almost 1000 calories. I had to be careful as supper, but I wasn't hungry because I'd been eating fruit all day, so I just had a big ham sandwich and was full. Then ate the last of the brownies.
Overall, logging food has caused me to limit it through increased awareness, a wonderful dynamic. Let's see how long I can keep losing weight at 2400 calories!
