Yesterday I had the chance to get out and play a round of golf with my father-in-law. Every season, from March/April thru November-ish timeframe, we would play golf almost every week. It felt so good to be outside, to do something normal.

It's been a strange and sad world - I haven't thought about golf once until I forced myself to - to think that just for 3 or 4 hours I could escape the news cycle, the stay at home work, etc. and just be regular again.

Surprisingly, it was crowded (more so than I would expect during these times). Nevertheless, we smiled, enjoyed our time, played not too badly considering I haven't swung a club in 5 months, and forgot about things for a while.

I hope we can get back to "normal" though I don't think there will ever be a "normal" again. There will be a "new normal" ... there will be "pre" and "post" covid-19 ... and we may never get back to "pre" again unless a vaccine can be discovered. Still, I think the precautions we are all taking might be a new normal - work from home - social distancing when in public - face masks, more home delivery services, etc. I don't know - just thinking.

Today, we are taking my son on a campus visit to the college he will "attend" next fall. Almost normal, yet not - since typically these are guided tours with many potential students and their parents - yet those were cancelled and we will be doing a "drive through" tour - maybe get out and walk a minute, but no guided tours. Suffice it to say, he won't be walking during graduation for this senior year. He seems ok with it - but I fear he will be sad 10-15 years down the line for what many are missing out on this year. I am sad for him.

Anyway, sorry to be a downer. Just thinking out loud.

Hope the FS family is safe and everyone you know and care about are safe as well.

All of those things are real and we can cope with acceptance and present moment thinking.

My son is in grade 12, I think it’s equivalent to senior year in the States? We are disappointed too. I know how you feel. Our 2001 babies born the year of 911, graduate the year of COVID 19. Interesting. We did get to visit and tour the university’s will attend in September...if all is the new normal by then. Who knows. Nothing is for sure in this life...but we hope and never give up!!! 😊

Yes wifey, senior year grade 12. It has been a different world since 2001. And yes we can overcome HCB. They’ll get through it but I still feel sad for them.

Our son too will not "walk." I have been the lead on the graduation social committee to plan monthly events, which have all been canceled... Including the all-nighter grad night. It is a small thing, compared to all that is going on in the world, but it is still sad for them. Our lad was planning to continue at the community College in the fall where he is full time running start before transferring to university. At least that is sort of stable even though all online this quarter.

i would guess they are a bit sad, yes @Wholefood? 4 - that is great! I will bet you are proud as well. @Melissa, you were really involved in his school's graduation - took the wind out of both of your sails, then, I am guessing. I am hoping these kids can step back into something normal this fall.

My triplets and their cousin who is 6 weeks younger are all seniors. I know they are all missing playing baseball this year. No idea yet what is happening with graduations etc.
