Day 2 of training: We had a school swim party tonight at the high school, so I decided to see how many laps I could do. The mini triathlon will include 35 lengths of a pool. I swam 15. My training guide says to swim for 12 minutes. I looked at the clock and swam I think about 14 minutes. I could have gone more, but was tired. I love to swim and can swim a long time, but get very out of breath when swimming freestyle. I did a combination of proper freestyle strokes, backstroke, and just my relaxing half underwater type of swim that is the easiest for me. I printed up a guide to train for 20 weeks, although I would rather try to do this in more like 12-16 weeks instead.
I was talking with a newer friend from church who also works out a lot and told her about trying to do this tri. She said, "Oh, I've already completed 3 this year...one sprint (which is the one I am training for,) one Olympic (twice as much as the sprint) and one half ironman. Do you know how much that is? Crazy amounts! She was talking about the bootcamp class at the Y which she also does and it's like 100 real pushups, 100 crunches, run sprints and then do those sets again and more. She had already done 600 crunches this morning. It is just a testament to how much more we can really push ourselves! We can probably do far more than we think we can. Here I feel good I can do 25 real push ups and she is talking crazy things like hundreds! I am fine with what I am able to do though and proud of working hard and getting more fit. I do want to challenge myself and see how much more I can do! Hope you are all working hard to push yourselves too. We can do this!

You are an exercise inspiration! And it sounds like your church friend is an inspiration for you. I am sure that by the time you finish your training, you will be amazing us with your "numbers". Keep up the fantastic effort!

Great! you're soooo motivated and most importantly you set limits and goals for yourself. Having them written down makes it all the more possible for it to become realized. Reach for the stars! Great job.
