I keep mine at 1,300 but I’m also doing keto and intermittent fasting( 16/8) so it’s actually pretty easy to stay within the 1,300. I eat a huge brunch and huge dinner so I do t get hungry during g the day. In the past, if I stayed at 1,000 calories or less my body would hang on to the weight thinking it was starving ( and I felt like I was!) Once I upped my daily calories, the weight started to come off again.

I keep mine between 1800 to 2200. I average about 1900 but I'm a big guy. most of my meals are about 750 to 850. and I 5-10% carb 70-75% fat and 20-25% protein, it works for me and that's all that matters. If what you're doing works for you then you're doing it right.

I'm at 1200 calories a day. I rarely go over, it's plenty for me..

Lol! My metabolism has changed quite a bit as I've aged. I can't lose weight unless I'm in the 1300 calorie range. And I've definitely done around 1000. What's the problem with it?

I was definitely eating larger portions back in July before I started intermittent fasting again and now that I fast every day between 18:6 or 20:4 I have a hard time eating more than 1000 calories because I get so full within my eating window. I read today that women shouldn't go below 1200 calories for healthy weight loss so tomorrow I will try to eat 1200 calories 😬 I'm just afraid of feeling over stuffed.

I eat a lot. Maintenance for me is about 2500 calories. The thing about fat secret is that some people are only like 5 ft tall and only eat about 1200 a day. It varies. The other thing about fat secret- no matter what dumb shit you post on here you will ALWAYS get support. You can have an eating disorder and someone will be applauding. There was a guy on here eating dirt- not even kidding- and people supporting. So yeah- It's a strange place sometimes. hahaha. It is sad though- to see someone with a goal weight of 88 pounds and stuff like that.

I try to eat 1200 calories or less in a day. I’ve cut my portions down and try to eat less sweets but that doesn’t always happen as I am a junk food junkie.

I see where you're coming from. I've definitely felt like that. But there are some people who don't regularly log everything, so that's something to remember - also, that not everyone is in the same headspace as what's healthy or desirable, so I've definitely seen some ana supporters on here in the short time I've been here. Alternately, from my own experience my appetite can range pretty widely depending on when I wake up and what kind of activity I'm doing. There's a lot of factors here without knowing exactly which posts or info you're looking at.

I don't believe in starvation diets. They are unsustainable. I do about 1,400 to 1,600 calories a day with a low glycemic emphasis. I much prefer to create an eating lifestyle that I can adopt for the rest of my life. Consistancy is key.

I average between 1600 to maybe 1900 most days. I've been in maintenance for just over 6 months. I feel like my portion sizes are generous. I usually don't eat breakfast til late morning (between 10:30 & noon) so I often eat a small snack late afternoon to tide me over til dinner. I eat the largest % of my calories at dinner (around 7:30 to 8:00 PM) then something for dessert. Then I don't eat again til morning. I don't know if you see my food posts but I'm almost never hungry. Even when I was in weight loss mode & eating 1200 to 1500 calories my routine was similar. I wasn't hungry then either.

I am on a strict CICO. But I have to flex some days and go up to 1300-1450. Depending on what I make to eat, 350 calorie meal can be huge and takes me forever to eat. Sometimes 350 calorie meal feels like nothing and some days I barely get to 1000 cals and I have to force myself to eat even when I'm full. Everyone is different and it really comes down to understanding what you're eating, when and what works for you.

Don't listen to that Duke J guy, you already know what's healthy and the fact that you're even asking shows this.

Because it's an open app, literally everyone is free to post here regardless if their ideals etc align with everyone else, so you're gonna get all sorts, healthy or not. You just might see it more than you would in real life because people don't right out tell you what they're doing. (Also, sometimes people split up their meals into several small meals instead of a few larger meals... Sorry, can't stop thinking of exceptions for literally everything. There are so many exceptions, you know.)

I have been floored how big the plates in posts are. Just the opposite for me and the calories always seem low. I have never been able to eat a lot at once, but I can eat all day small portions and that adds up, so intermittent fasting is really helping me to not snack during the day and have a great meal that I can splurge on which I usually don’t eat it all. I am very satisfied. I believe not being hungry is the answer.

I think a lot of people post what they aim for but are probably not really averaging such a low number at all. I think people should start off at a higher number and check to see how their weight trends over three weeks or so. it seems a lot of people start off really low and have huge losses at first and then it slows down a lot because they're not giving their body what it really needs to keep energy levels up, to maintain a good amount of vitamin intake, and to get enough protein to slow down muscle loss.
