I weighed myself this morning, and I went slightly up. I know I'm still eating too much. I'm losing way too slow. I've lost 4 pounds in 4 weeks. I know my metabolism is slower. I am proud of myself that I've kicked the nightly pig-out sessions. I thank this site for that. But I really want to lose faster. I know I keep complaining about the same thing. And maybe I have a big loss coming up. But I exercise so much, and I get hungry. I'll be happy if I keep going down, but I am a tad frustrated. Any suggestions?

I'm slipping. I bought Cool Whip at the store. My son wanted it, and I succumbed. Aaaah!!!! I know it comes from the fact that I'm not moving on the scale. I must eat less. I must eat less. I must eat less. I must eat less. I must eat less. I'm going to say it until it gets drilled into my head.

I know I'm talking a lot about myself today. But I want to pull myself out of this. I was looking at my food chart from yesterday. I did well point wise until the night, when I got hungry and ate a bunch of salmon. The nighttime is my problem. I am going to try to stretch my lunch time to later and also with my dinner. I think I'm eating too much during the daytime. That's got to be it! I think I'll try to push my exercise to the evening. I don't work out as strongly at that time of night, but maybe overall it will work better for my diet.

Hi debbra, Do your chores early and when the hunger comes upon you in the evening, step outside for a while and do something else. A few nights of self control will set you well on your way. Fight the evening hunger with all your strength and using all the tools in your arsenal. When you do it that way, it's easy to get a grip. Keep up the good work!

I have a couple things to add - First, I'm the president of the slow losers club!!! So I feel your pain, so to speak! It has taken me 10 months to lose 21 lbs!! But I am 21 lbs lighter than I was at this time last year!!! And if I can (maybe) lose 30 lbs next year - that will be 50 lbs!!! I know its slow, but its been a lifestyle change for me and lifestyles don't change easily. You may be going through the same thing. So, try to look at it as if you are changing your life, not "dieting". It makes the little changes more significant. And, those of us who lose slower keep it off longer - maybe even permanently - because we are making LIFE changes, not temporary eating changes. Second, I am a night eater, too. What helps me is to have more small meals instead of trying to do three bigger meals a day. I eat about every 3 hours all day long. Even through the evening. I try to make my evening meals less calorie laden, but I still eat, without guilt now. I will have a substantial meal for dinner, with an emphasis on protein. But at about 9pm I'll have, say, a small salad or a boiled egg. And again at 11pm, I may have some sugar free pudding. It works out for me, I just plan ahead. And although my losing is slow, I'm losing in a way that I CAN. I can't do all that traditional dieting where I'm deprived all the time. Been there, done that. And gained back all the weight I lost - plus more. So don't get too frustrated. Just take it one day at a time.

Thank you guys for all your comments. It's funny. Most of the stuff you guys say I've heard on here before and I've told myself before. But reading it fresh just helps so much!! Also talking about it like I'm doing right now. I think that I get so emotional about the whole thing that I actually lose my memory. I will forget how to diet and even that I am dieting! But the lifestyle change part is a good one to hear. I've been here four weeks, and I am really impressed that I've kept down the four pounds. For the last two or three years I had been going up and down between the 170's and the 160's. And I would never go three days in a row without putting the weight back on. So that's actually an accomplishment. It sure does help to talk about it!
