Very cold (for here) and windy....just 33 degrees mid-morning! I've had to pull out my Midwest-tested and Midwest-approved coats to get the dogs out and to take out the recycling and put my pool pump on "continuous."

Yesterday, we were close to 70 degrees before this monster front came through. We'll be in the teens tonight and won't go above freezing tomorrow. These are supposed to be the lowest temps this area has seen in over 20 years. Not sure about that, as the winter of 2009/2010 had its moments, too.

In any event, I'm happy that we took some precautions earlier this season. But I suspect all of us will lose some landscape plantings, as most of them are not quite as cold hardy as they'd need to be for these temps. On the plus side, these temps should knock back the mosquito and creepy-crawly populations!

I'm thrilled to be back on a regular schedule this week!!! One can only take so much vacation...LOL!

I sure do understand about too much vacation! Hate that it is so cold for you, but can't help thinking of the farmers and others who may be more than just inconvenienced. BTW - while you were gone the "Other Sandy" got me doing the 16:8 program (along with low carb, of course). Took a few days to get used to but now I cannot believe how it has diminished my appetite! Telling you just in case you want to try something new in 2014.

It's 22 degrees here and temps are still dropping. It's been snowing all morning. Winter has arrived and let's hope it does kill the mosquito population! All for that!

Oh! Ha Ha! I noticed that and laughed. You make me feel like PORK. You know how they do advertisements calling pork the "the Other White Meat". LOL!

Oh no!!!! the other Sandy...like in the other woman..LOL...Will the real Sandy stand up...I could go and on...but wont'....I think this cold weather has hit every one..Like Buffy said us farmers with cows worry they may freeze...we fed extra grain feed along with the hay....Glad your getting back in the groove...Stay warm....:O)

No, Sandy, you're definitely NOT PORK!! But I did chuckle over the connection! Reminded me of 2 friends I had in high school named Mary. Although, alphabetically, "Mary 1" was second and "Mary 2" was first, they got named that way because "Mary 2" hadn't been with us since kindergarten like "Mary 1" was......but of course, no need for the "1" designation until that second Mary arrived! And now that I've bored you all to tears with such inconsequential trivia......LOL! I did a 14-hour fast last night without trying. I bet I could stretch that to 16. If I'm staying with the right mix of foods, I'm not hungry until then anyway, if I can force myself to really, truthfully focus on true hunger - that's the hard part. Might give this the ol' college try. Thanks!
