Can relate. I ate too much caramel corn, was sick to my stomach, sweating, dizzy, thought I was gonna throw up. I know too much sugar does all that every time but still I do it. I don't feel guilty, just stupid....

Was sick. Didn't sleep until who knows when this morning probably due to caffeine in the chocolate. Finally up at almost noon with a significant weight loss. Is my scale even right?

This is so like me too. I crave comfort foods, but when I eat them I emotionally feel comforted but physically I feel disgusting. Journaling had helped some but it will take some time to replace junk with a healthier option.

I remember hearing a therapist say that when we are babies, we are offered food all the time for comfort, and we spend the rest of our lives trying to undo that.

LetsDoThis— you are so right and yet I see many people here on FS doing the same thing to their own families. All the time people say, “just because I’m on a diet doesn’t mean my family can’t have a treat”. And a treat turns into a daily way of life. Chips, candy, a donuts etc. one way to establish the concept of a “treat” is to not have it at home—make that special treat, like ice cream, something that you plan for and purchase or make specifically for the occasion or for that one particular TV show the whole family watches once a week. . That also moves you and your family away from the idea that they consistently have to eat something every time they sit down to watch TV. For a truly hungry, active kid, keep oranges, apples, string cheese— something with nutritional value.
