Busy, busy day.

I spent nearly all morning at church volunteering to help with a massive mail-out. Met some more new people which is always nice. It took longer than anyone thought because we kept running out of supplies! The person/people in charge usually have everything all set up for the volunteers and we just get right to work, but today, for some reason, all the counts were off. We'd run out of 1 insert, then the other, then we ran out of envelopes, etc. Finally finished up just before noon, but we could have been done by 10:30 if we had had everything. Oh well, it happens.

Then, since I was halfway there anyway, I ran to the neighboring town to Sam's and Wally World. I took advantage of the great weather and parked at Sam's but walked to/from WM rather than moving the car. It's right next door, but with the size of those stores and parking lots, I still got a nice hike in.

After I got home, of course, the doggies needed some attention, so I took them for a mini-stroll because we didn't get to go earlier this AM. Snarfed down a cheese stick because I WAS HUNGRY!! DH plans on taking the dogs for at least a short walk when he gets home, so I did a shorter one with them to get 1.3 miles in for them now and then finished up a bit extra to complete 3.0 miles for me. Now, I'm really hungry!! Snarfed some peanut butter and regular peanuts. Not the best combo but it's quick and I know the PB is filling enough to combat the hunger.

I'd love to have another strawberry smoothie, but can't afford it if I have the spaghetti squash for dinner - which I also want. I had planned on having the smoothie for lunch after my walk, but I just couldn't wait to make it and ate the peanuts instead. Perhaps not the best decision, but it is what it is.

OH, I should probably flag some information I discovered last night when I was completing my food diary. Some individuals are changing the Nutrition Facts label information in the database to reflect hidden carbs!

A while back in a forum post, I wrote about what I believed to be hidden carbs in a pressurized whipping cream. But I did NOT change the Nutrition Facts in the database to reflect it - they remained the same as what the manufacturer has on the product. IMHO, each person can decide if they want to add any hidden carbs to their diary, or if they simply want to be aware of it, or if they want to ignore it completely. Again, IMHO, the Nutrition Facts in the FS database should reflect the package. I have no problem if someone wants to write about possible hidden carbs in the "Additional Description" part of that product's information. But currently, that pressurized whipping cream product's Nutrition Facts have been changed (by someone else, not me) to reflect hidden carbs, as well as another product I ran across last night, a basic, non-diet product.

What this tells me is that I need to be watchful of EVERY entry into my food diary. This has also convinced me to no longer add sugar alcohols to the fiber count to properly reflect net carbs for any new product I enter into the database...but I WILL do so in MY OWN custom food entry for that product. I will be entering food into the database to reflect the product label info exactly as is.

What a busy day and still able to get that walking done. You should be proud of yourself. Have a blessed weekend.

Thanks Bren & Cindy. I figured the walking from Sam's to WalMart was actually faster than trying to move my car from 1 parking lot to the other...and I think it was! Have a good weekend, you two.

Sandy, sounds like a great day. I do the same at Wally World...always park at the very back and then power walk through the lot and the store. Makes for a pretty good workout and I had one of those yesterday also! As for the food counts, I noticed the same with the hidden carbs and when I see that I change it back. lol Probably ticks them off, but in in my opinion counting hidden carbs should be up to each individual. I also saw that someone even made a comment about the counts on one of the whipped cream products. I have been seeing that some people are putting in the Atkins bars and editing the manufacturers info so that their food diaries don't reflect the true number of total carbs. That should be done in their private food diaries not the data base, same with the hidden carbs. Just my opinion! Hope you have a great weekend!

I agree with you Stef. The database needs to be kept exactly as the manufacturers claim and then each person can decide if they want to customize a non-shared entry to add hidden carbs or sugar alcohols, or whatever. Enjoy your weekend too.
