Wow, what a weird sensation...a quiet house. DS#6 and his family moved out over the weekend. My house is soooo quiet. I'm not complaining...yet. It is really strange not being woken by a two-year-old in need of a diaper change, a large dog needing to go out, and 4 little hungry mouths (plus the dog's) all wanting something different for breakfast. It is going to be strange fixing meals for just the two of us. But I'm looking forward to some couple-time with GoodMan.

GoodMan and I spent most of the weekend over at DS#6's new house helping them move in. We weren't planning to go yesterday, but there was just so much to do to get them settled before school started today. GoodMan started to mow our grass before we left, but he disturbed a bee's nest and was stung 5 times on his feet and legs...can you say "OOOOuch!!"? After addressing his wounds, we left for the 50 minute drive to see the kids.

When we arrived at their new house (after just one night away from ours) Grandson#5 asked ,"Grandma, how did you guys do last night? Were you lonely?, Did you miss us?" I just giggled, "You bet I did! I don't know what I'm going to do with all that extra space and all that quiet!" He looked pleased. The kids gave us another tour of their new bedrooms, although not much had changed since we had been there the night before (wink and smile).

After a few minutes I took DIL#6 grocery shopping while GoodMan watched the kiddos and DS#6 got the last load of belongings out of storage. When we got back I unpacked dishes and fixed an early dinner. Afterward I set up one granddaughter's bedroom and then organized outfits and backpacks for the three older kids for their first day of school . GoodMan was able to set up one of the grandson's bedrooms and walked the property with the other grandson...when it came time to leave I told the kids, "Papa and Grandma are going home now"... to which the two-year-old granddaughter replied, "I'm ready to go home now too." It took a little explaining to her that this IS her home now...her mommy said, "Yes, Ella, we're going to be best friends! You and I are going to get to go EVERYWHERE together!" (I think my DIL is going to miss all the free babysitting!) That placated Little Miss Ella, but as we left she looked up at me with her big blue Precious Moments eyes and said, "I'm gonna miss you"...she used to tell me that if I went to the grocery store without her...I can only imagine she thinks I'm going to be gone a similar amount of time. Oh, well...I will probably see them in a week when GoodMan has to teach a class in Grand Rapids...I'm gonna miss them too!

Life is such a dichotomy...hard to have them here and hard to have them go...
