I'm pretty discouraged the last few days. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I feel like I'm starving myself on this 1200 calorie diet and my Fitbit says I'm burning more then twice what I'm eating and yet the number on the scale won't go down. Four four years I plateaued at 190. Didn't gain didn't lose. When I first started a few weeks ago I was seeing a difference and dropped down 5 lbs over two weeks. I was very hopeful but I already feel like I'm stalled again. My mind has been feeling okay, I'm more alert without the use of caffeine, I'm through the headache portion of my withdrawals, I'm off the cigarettes, but my body feels like a wreak.

That doesn’t sound right. If you burn twice as much as you consume, your body is fighting for dear life just to stay alive. Maybe lay off the exercise and focus on eating habits? 1200 is so low…

1200 calories a day is too low you are shocking your body and it won’t give you the result you are looking for. 5 meals a day is required and 1200 calories is not gonna cut it drink 3 litres of water a day and I agree with DomOlive focus on healthy eating and the rest will follow 💪🏼

ypu are starving yourself at 1200 calories my friend in order to maintain a weight you take your weight and multiply by 12 and that's the calories you should be eating to maintain that weight. so if your goal weight is 150 150x12= 1800 calories. also fitbit burned calories are close but not 100% as their data is based solely on stride and not total accurate heart rate readings also agree get that water up!

One victory at a time. Congrats on the non smoking. 1200 calories is not enough. Try 1400! 300 for breakfast, 400 for lunch, 500 for dinner and 200 snack.

Count your calories for a while until you feel confident!

Congratulations on the non smoking, that in itself is a wonderful accomplishment. I do agree that 1200 calories isn't enough! There is 3500 calories in 1 pound, so I take my weight now (180 x 12 = 2160), subtract 500 calories a day from it (2160 - 500 = 1660), at that rate I will lose 1 pound per week (500 x 7 = 3500). That way my body doesn't think I'm starving and slow my metabolism down. It's slow, but so far it's working.

Hey everyone. Thanks so much for all your comments. I'm currently on a medically supervised weight loss trial. The 1200 calories was doctor recommended. It's not a forever thing, but he has asked me to aim for that, and I'm doing my best to comply. My career doesn't allow me to excersize very much and since I'm stuck in a sitting position for 8-10 hours a day (excavator operator) I don't have many opportunities to excersize. I also commute to work so between sitting in my equipment and sitting in my car there really aren't enough hours in the day. Today I brought fresh berries and fresh veggies in excess and oh boy what a difference that made to my caloric intake. I was able to eat a big wrap for dinner and still kept it under 1200! I'm going to ask him during my next weekly check-in how long he wants me to aim for 1200.

I know you say that you don't have time to exercise, but that could be the missing thing that will get the weight loss kick started. It happened to me also. Eating hardly anything, but not losing weight. Exercise was the missing piece. It's hard, don't get me wrong. Just know that exercise may be the key for you. I'm not in a position right now to preach, but years ago when I started exercising and working out regularly, I found I could eat 3000 calories a day, enjoy food (not fast food though), and still lose weight. Strength training also boosts testosterone in men, which boosts metabolism, which burns calories. Metabolism is key.
