10 pounds down...

YAAAAAY!!!! 10 pounds down since I started making conscious lifestyle changes and 1 week since I set myself my monthly goals. I have to say, I wish someone had told me to set myself short-term mini goals like this before, because it really has helped to keep me focused so far.

So lets have a look at those goals and the progress so far:


1. One day a week, eat no cheese whatsoever

Week 1 - done! Monday was no-cheese day and my Indian inspired alternative went down really well.

2. Take the time to cook something “proper” once a week

Week 1 - done! Made my lentil moussaka (recipe in my cookbook if anyone is interested) and have 3 leftover portions to see me through next week.

3. Not eat out for lunch at work at all in April

Week 1 - done! I usually only eat out on Fridays, so I just made sure to bring a lunch with me on the Friday. Until I learn healthier choices for what to eat and learn how much of it I should be eating it's best that I bring pre-prepared meals instead.

I'm actually going to have to eat dinner out a couple of times next week due to social occassions (note that the goal was about work lunches, not any other meals!) but I've been able to get everyone to agree to eat at Japanese places which means I can choose low calorie dishes plus the portion sizes are nice and small.

4. Join a gym and acquire the necessary clothing to actually go - no excuses!

Week 1 - done! Gym joined, clothes purchased and delivered, and I event went to my first Zumba class yesterday. In case anyone wondering, Zumba is one of the best exercises I've ever tried. It was so much fun and is accessible to pretty much any fitness level as you can make it as high or low intensity as you want. Will definitely be going back!

5. Believe that I can succeed (I changed the title above from “hope to achieve in April” to “will achieve in April” as a starting point!)

Week 1 - done! Feeling very positive indeed, and taking things one step at a time has really helped. Here's to the future!


I seriously can't wait for the next week. Good things await!
