Breakfast did not sit well. I can report that trying to make overnight oats with steel cut without any actual cooking doesn't work, even if you give them two overnights to soak. Despite what that one website said. In other words: kids, don't try this at home! 😂

I like adding them to original oats. I add 1/4 and 1/4, about 1/2 cup almond milk, a teaspoon of almond butter, a scoop of chia seeds, 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt, a dash of honey, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and any fruit you like! It’s seemed to work. I tried steel oats once by themselves and it definitely wasn’t soft lol

No problem. I hate oats. LOL.

Oats are definitely not everyone's thing. I enjoy steel cut oats on their own...when they're cooked. 😉 They're just kind of a hassle to cook, so I don't do it often. I'll keep looking for an easier way!

I can't even remember the last time I had oats. Years. It just never occurs to me when I'm at the market. I associate them with a hot breakfast food or oatmeal raisin cookies, and since I only eat fresh fruit for breakfast and don't eat sweets now🤷🏻♀️. They are high in fiber and protein, though. Maybe this autumn...

JustBananas -- I learned to eat oats plain, not a thing on them, years ago. VERY rarely, I'll put a teaspoon of sugar on them if I'm in the mood for a sweet treat. Most of the time, I just throw in a sweeter fruit like apples or some dried fruit plus nuts. They really don't need sugar. I'm someone who needs a substantial breakfast to function, so I like the protein and fiber. And the taste 😋

it can work, you just need to add a dash of ACV to help soften and make sure it's a full 8 hours. I used to take these to work and heat up in microwave.

I suppose white vinegar would also work. it's about adding an acid.

I drink coffee black, and only like sweet food to pair with the bitter (Salty and fatty foods with java just make me cringe. I have no idea how Keto kids can stomach their breakfasts🤮) . The only way I can see myself cooking oats is at dinnertime. Have you ever tossed in a handful with a stew? Normally I would add barley,

Thanks for the suggestion, Katsolo! JustBananas -- most of the only times I've ever tried oats with savory I didn't like it. Years ago, I used to make goetta, which is a sausage-oats loaf you slice and fry. Definitely off my diet now! 😂 Other than that, I've never liked savory versions of oats, so I'll skip the stew idea. Yeah, the keto breakfasts don't do a lot for me, either, but to each their own. I'm sure a lot of folks are equally grossed out by tofu 😉

I meant combining bitter coffee with a salty Keto meal would be awful. Tofu with coffee would be awful, too, for the same taste bud reasons. I guess I'll have to play around with the oats and just cook a separate pot of a recipe to try things out (so that I don't ruin the whole thing if I dislike it).
