Ok so I won't be doing my normal walking routine because I haven't been feeling well. I've got a stress test tomorrow which hopefully will let me know whether there's anything wrong. I've been getting vertigo and asthma like breathing where I feel like I'm not getting enough oxygen when I'm tired and it's kinda scaring me a little. So fingers crossed everything fine, but in the meantime I'm trying new things to eat to possibly bring my calories down to 1600-1700. I'm going with a salad lunch instead of my normal 2 sandwiches which contain 4 slices of bread. I'm having 2 slices in the morning with my eggs as a change up to oats but I love my oats.hope everyone is having a nice weekend 🙂

Hopefully you will get some answers. It took me years to find out that much as I love a sandwich, bread is not my friend. So I have bought the CSIRO low carb recipe books and that seems to be doing the trick. I buy the 85% less carb bread to have occasionally , vegetable rice for meals and risotto and the slendier pasta keeps all of my cravings at bay. By substituting the food I love for low carb replicas things seem to be going ok. Well, so far anyway, I know I will have lots of ups as well as downs throughout this journey.

Yeah the journey of a healthy lifestyle 👌. I'm ok with possibly not having as much bread as I'd like l, it's changing my breakfast to eggs instead of oats that has me a bit meh hahaha

hi Bruce, I like my oats for brekky too... in the last few weeks I have been swapping out 3 mornings per week with higher protein, lower carb alternatives to see if it makes a difference for me. I will give most changes like that a shot for about a month before I make any judgement or long term change to my monthly meal plan... if it looks like it's making a difference I'll increase it up a couple more mornings - but I'll still be having my oats at least 2 mornings a week for a while yet... I don't work well with sudden change, needs to be slow and steady for me to stay the course...

That’s excellent advice from Liz. Also, if you aren’t an egg person, there are other options to increase the breakfast protein like mushrooms, cheeses, nuts and even yogurt with fresh fruit is nice going into summer, especially strawberries and blueberries. You can also make your own muesli with oats and nuts that won’t have the high sugar content store bought ones would. Try a few things and see what works for you, but nothing too drastic that makes it difficult to maintain. Onwards and downwards Bruce! I have just done 10,000 steps for the 2nd day and it was you who has motivated me. Thank you. Onwards and downwards!

That's awesome triehard I'm happy that I could do that for you 🙂. I will seconds triehard and say excellent advice Liz 🙂. Ok it's only taken 2 days for me not to like having salads at lunch so I'm going back to sandwiches 😆. I've found that I'm focusing myself to eat the salad and I shouldn't do something I'm not 100% interested in eating. I'm only over a month into eating healthy and I want to keep that way and be happy at the same time doing that 😎

Bruce, if you want to cut down carbs (and all their calories) but not eliminate breads from your food intake, I can recommend Aldi Low Carb wraps, 103 calories each, From other supermarkets Simsons Pantry low carb Keto Wraps 98 calories, Alpine Breads Super Natural 103 calories per slice, or their Low Carb bread 75 calories per slice. Aldi also does a nice high protein yoghurt Yoguri brand. And low fat cottage cheese which is very high in protein - I use it as a spread in a thick layer instead of butter. The breathlessness you are experiencing may be anaemia - get your Haemoglobin and iron stores checked when you go for your checkup.

Hi bruce bear. just putting it out there. years ago when Stevia first entered the health food market and supermarket shelves as the alternative to sugar being a natural product. I started experiencing unexplained vertigo and breathing problems. The vertigo was the worst as it continued while lying down and disturbed my sleeping. My body was being poisoned by the Stevia which I only used 3 times a day in my coffee. I cannot eat or drink and product containing Stevia which is in many food and drinks today. It was my hubby who solved my problem. Once Stevia was cut out, no more vertigo or unexplained breathing problems. Please check all your health food products and drinks to see if it contains Stevia. 🥰

have you had a Covid test. I had the same breathing problem and it was Covid and I had the same problem when I had the flu. I have a puffer now. The problem didn't go away.

When I had vertigo my doctor recommended I do ‘ Epley manoeuvre’, I also have asthma & once I saw a respiratory specialist I’ve been much better. All the best with your stress test!

Ok so I did my stress test and the cardiologist said it looks fine and the full results will be forwarded to my GP. @Sallyjeanm OMG the last thing I need is COVID again after having it in February, I'll look around the house for the test. @Treeslaugh that's unfortunate sorry to hear about that. The last time I tried losing weight it happened (vertigo) and I didn't really see my GP about it but tomorrow I'm going to make an appointment. @Anne MRD I think it went well and I'll definitely ask my GP about my vertigo asap so I can get back to my normal self. Thanks for your comments guys 😊
