I just had the exact same thing happen! I have Verizon and they had them on sale last week, I'm due for a new phone THIS week so I was going to get a phone and the flex at the same time...NOPE, not on sale anymore! :( 

I still want one but I'll wait now. I want the sale price. It was on Amazon so I didn't think it would be an issue. Live and learn. Locally they were quite a bit more.

Thank you. I found it. It has to be the flex because it is the only one that can get wet. If I have to take it off to kayak what's the point.  

I really liked my Fitbit Flex until I took a trip to Florida in January and used it while shelling in the ocean. I got saltwater under it and my wrist broke out in a rash. I haven't been able to use it since. Every time I put it on I break out again. I ended up giving it to my son. The other thing I wasn't crazy about was that you have to go online or on your smartphone to find out how you're doing. You can't tell very well by reading the flashing lights. Of course sometimes you have to give up one thing - like being able to know how many steps you've taken without looking it up on the internet - in order to get another benefit - like being able to get it wet. I hope you like yours! 

I love my flex and cant live with out it any more.. its a great investment.  

A new band might fix the salt water issue. I have to buy one or a set as mine is splitting. I've worn mine for nearly a year. It took awhile to get used to sleeping with it as I have teeny wrists and it was uncomfortable. now I loosen it a bit and flip it around so the device is on the inside of my wrist. I would love to see results without having to look at my phone or computer. Mine was free from my employer/health ins.  

If you can afford it - the FitBit Charge HR has all the information right on the device and you can monitor your heart rate - maybe they will go on sale! 

I have Flex. The only thing I am disappointed about is that it doesn't track 'floors' :( Be careful while kayaking, I'm pretty sure the Flex is water resistant, not water proof. 

Has anyone used the Garmin vívofit 2 Activity Tracker? It is advertised as safe for swimming so I may go with that. 5 ATM (50 meters). I don't plan to swim with it on but I do want it able to get wet. Kayak and Busch Gardens. 

My cousin has a Garmin vivofit and she loves it. But I haven't asked her much more about it. I ended up doing a lot of research before buying a activity tracker. Just go on youtube and type flex vs garmin etc. There are detailed reviews and comparisons so you can decide whats best for you. I ended up with the Fitbit surge
