I stress eat sweets. Period. I'm stressed.

High stakes, tight deadline dropped on me at work this week. Blessed with a supportive boss, at least. I am a walking ball of anxiety. The day it landed on me, if someone had put a bowl of M&Ms in front of me, I would have dived in face first like a dog going for its kibble.

Trying to grant myself some grace but resist the urge to fudge (so to speak) my tracking. It's all in that food journal, bad as it is. I make no claim to be perfect, but I try to be honest.

This is why I'm so laser-focused on retirement in less than 300 days. I've read articles that say retirement can be bad for your health, but I know me. With my perfectionism on the job, it gets in the way of the steps I want to take for my health. I'm not someone whose identity is tied up in her job. I have enough outside interests that I think I'll need to "reinvent" myself and find purpose. My purpose is already outside those office walls.

Just babbling a bit, but I'm struggling. Time to calm myself and refocus.

I love peanut M&Ms. So hard to resist. I am a Type A personality who attempts not to be. I can still work myself into a frenzy even while retired. LOL.

You've commented before about how wonderful all your co-workers are. Would they feel put-upon if you asked them to help you avoid the office junk food? Or maybe you could write a sign for yourself? My weight gain was entirely due to free food lying around at the office, so I understand the compulsion.

How exciting that retirement is so near. I retired about 13 years ago and savor every day.

Morticia -- my choice would be the dark chocolate ones 😋 JB-- this one's all on me. Our office has its celebrations, but really is not out of control on food. On a typical day, it's limited to fun sized candy bars for a quarter in the break room, a small bowl of Hershey's Nuggets outside the business manager's office, hard candies in my boss's office, and whatever snacks I keep in my office. That's it. We're just not a donuts every Friday, food always out office, and there are no food pushers. Most of my office snacks are healthy. A far cry from the food environment you described in your workplace. No...I just need to figure out how to manage stress better!

Dark chocolate is my goto treat

Oh, yes, Sunnie. I love it dark as a mile-deep cave on a moonless night. I sometimes buy the 90% cacao stuff and have one square with a dried apricot for a little dessert. It's not the days I eat one square that are the problem... it's the ones where I go well past that. I do find that a small bit of dark chocolate is more satisfying than a large amount of milk chocolate or candy bars
