Fasting does not have to mean eating nothing at all. In fact, it's not recommended that you eat nothing at all. It is recommended that you eat less, but still eat. Your husband is right to tell you that you need to eat something rather than nothing.

Try the 16:8 fast... eat dinner by 8 pm, then eat nothing until around noon the next day, then eat all you want until you are full until 8 pm again (1-2 meals)... the key is the word FULL... do not overeat, just enough to be sufficiently full... it is remarkable how well it works and you don't have to starve yourself.

FASTING is not about eating nothing! Intermittent fasting is about having an eating window of time - like what Ravyne Hawke described. You find an eight hour block of time and eat during that time frame. If you continue to lose weight by starving yourself, you could ruin your metabolism, your health and can easily gain back any weight you lose. Please do some research about healthy weight loss.

My bf is the same way with me. I actually do intermittent fasting everyday and found it easy. First dont TELL your husband that you are doing it. Just say you are not hungry. For me I eat a big dinner around 8pm and I fast until around 11:30 the next day in which I eat my breakfast/lunch. Then my last meal is dinner around 8pm again. Weekends I do this because I sleep in and dont finish making breakfast till around 11:00 AM anyway. Make sure while you fast you drink a lot of fluids. But if you are truly HUNGRY and start feeling light headed, drink more water or break your fast. It takes time to get used to fasting. But in the end its nice because you dont have to make so much food throughout the day. :) Enjoy

Just a little more info. for you in intermittent fasting. After about 12 hours of fasting your body uses up the available stores of glycogen and must then resort to burning fat for the remaining fasting time. Studies also report other health benefits from doing it. During the non-fasting 8 hours eat what you would normally eat during the day. It's been shown that coconut oil does not break the fast and can actually help your body burn fat, so it's OK to have a TBSP of it during the fast to help with hunger if needed.

Intermittent Fasting seems pretty easy to incorporate into any diet plan - just have your last meal finished by 6 pm, no evening snacking, then breakfast at 7 am or later. Good way to "pump up" the fat loss. Though for some folks eating larger meals during the "eating window" could mean a bigger insulin release which promotes fat storage. May be better to eat 3 more moderate meals during that time, rather than two.

@trackin64, I actually eat less when I do the 16:8 or the 24 hr fast than I do if I am not fasting at all and eating 3 meals. I just make sure that the two meals I do eat are high in fat and low in carbs and I rarely eat more than 1200 calories a day that way. So it is the High healthy fats that make it possible to eat less during fasting/fed states.
