Last year, my motto was New Me in '23. I kinda think I rocked it. I didn't miss a single day or meal of tracking. I went from couch potato to regular workouts. And I now love my exercise routine!

I'd considered Love More in '24 as my new motto, and I still plan to work wholly on giving and receiving more love this year! I actually have more trouble accepting love. I give it quite freely.

But I've decided to go with Less is More in '24 instead. I'm not a Minimalist and I don't plan to be. But just as my body had succumbed to excess, our home has, too. It started feeling more like a bloated warehouse than a comfortable living space.

Hubs and I busted booty and paid off our home last year. We invested in all new windows and doors, a metal roof, and a few other improvements. But even with just the 2 of us here, it's wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling stuff.

So, I'm decluttering big time! Losing unnecessary junk just like I lost the weight. And it's great exercise for mind, body, and spirit!

Any "almost Minimalists" here?

Far from a minimalist here. I like my stuff. I could benefit from getting rid of some stuff that is just taking up space....stored but never used. We have done purges over the years, but it really does take time & energy. I like your motto for 2024 😊

I was a minimalist when I met my hubby in 1982. I owned very little that wasn't necessary. Such as 2 sets of sheets, 2 sets of towels, a hamper, a shower curtain, bed, chest of drawers, bedside table, love seat, end table, 2 lamps, dinette set, what I needed to cook and eat with, alarm clock, work uniforms, minimum clothing. Friends were not eager to come to my apartment as I had no T.V. or stereo. I think everyone thought I was abnormal. I am the opposite now with too much stuff and am paring down but am not going to go overboard. I am like SherryeB. I like the stuff I am keeping.

Way to go on achieving goals! I identify as a minimalist although I’m not sure I qualify. ☺️ I have a lot accumulated from living in the same home for 20 years but have tried very hard not to buy anything that has no useful purpose (aside from some artwork). Some things I have no problem getting rid of (clothes, household appliances, etc) but there are some things I’ve invested a lot into that are harder to let go of.

you can find weekly decluttering plans and stuff to systematically go from room to room, cabinet to cabinet

Getting rid of or donating stuff and living minimally is my absolute dream. I get closer every day. 💙 Happy trails!

Measuring wants vs needs; maybe address obsessions less necessary for well being…

I've been into simple living for a long time. Try not to accumulate excess and regularly go through stuff and release what's not being used. Don't need it in my energy field. I agree it's related to excess on the body

I feel the same. It's just my husband and I and we have too much stuff. I want to declutter soon!

Boy Howdy! What an awesome project! I want/need to do some letting go of excess and starting with my body clutter! You are inspiring!

Same here. Our word for this yr is "streamline health and home" Even if its 1/4 lb. loss, 1 drawer or box or 15 mins at a time, progress is progress.

FlyLady suggests the "15 fling boogie" for decluttering. Put in some great music and run around the house with trash & giveaway bags decluttering. Once a day.

Ancient Hippie- i used to follow FlyLady methods of cleaning. It got overwhelming to follow all her different methods. I got ADHD so i kinda need just one simple process. Lol

Yeah, I understand re: FlyLady. I don't do her routines anymore but I've kept a few takeaways such as the flinging boogie, I guess because it's fun. 😀

I love it!! I think people are realizing that consumerism is really a form of slavery. Marketers (I have many years experience in the field myself) are great at convincing us their products fix our problems. They don't. All the junk just robs our bank accounts and clutters our homes and stresses us out. We gave up consumer debt years ago and never looked back. HUGE Dave Ramsey fans!!! I used to be a Fly Baby! My forever takeaways were the clean sink and the swish & swipe . 😂 But I agree, her process is just too complicated. I need short, sweet, simple. I'm so excited to build a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle.

I support your minimalism! I've moved 5 times since mid 2019, each time I gave away or sold many items, so I don't have much. It feels good to not be tied to too many things.

Gigi, simple living saved me financially. I ran across The Complete Tightwad Gazette, horrible name, read it cover to cover, paid off debt, saved money, and retired to a cheaper state where I bought a house for cash. It definitely works.

Except for art supplies and books I tend to keep it pared down pretty well. Mind you I love collecting things, this and that I fall in love with and *have to have*. But I clear out every spring and fall things I havent used or realized I didnt need as much as I thought. Its my daughter who has trouble letting go of things. But it all works out. I pare my things down extra hard to give her more space, lol. If only this body would minimalize... LOL
