I like an occasional sloppy joe, but my husband doesn't care for them at all. So I bought a can of sloppy joe sauce and froze 1/4 cup servings in muffin tins. So now, when I get a hankering, I can microwave one of these with some lentils or TVP

We use similar strategies when one of us likes a product and the other does not. It also works when we shop at the warehouse clubs...

Thanks, all! He's usually a good sport about eating what I eat, but there are a few things he's just not into. He's actually a good influence on me, because he tries to avoid sugar

We had sloppy joes for dinner with yellow squash; cabbage for those that can eat it, and fresh strawberries.

Mangoes, Kenna? Do you mean the red pepper? My mom used to call green peppers mangoes

LOVE this! Muffin tins and ice cube trays are my favorite go-tos! My husband doesn't like rhubarb, so I make then freeze the compote in ice cube trays. I then put the frozen portions in zip locks. When I want some in my yogurt or cream of wheat, I grab what I need! I also freeze bone broth in the same manner!

I also cook 2 or 3 dinners worth of a dish and freeze the leftovers in portions for 2 people. My husband has "dry mouth" and at 88 is not tasting things the same. When he won't eat what I have cooked I tend to eat his leftovers the next day.

Thanks, Charlie! Jujugirl -- I'm figuring these things out more and more. A girl's gotta have some convenience foods sometimes, and it's best if I can come up with them myself. Snowwhite -- that sounds like a great idea. We're champion leftover eaters in our house
