My back went out Monday afternoon by simple bending at the waist to tuck my son's sheet under his bed. I have never experienced such pain! It was on the mend but I mistakenly slept in my bed and got right back to square 1. My husband even helped me in and out of bed but was so painful. I am now sleeping in my recliner but can't put the foot rest up n down on my own. I'm moving around more today and trying to cut back on Tylenol. (I worry about my liver)I will probably still take a muscle relaxer tonight and cont. ibuprofen. Not being able to workout really sucks. My back had been giving me signals to stop lifting weights but I didn't listen :( Now I'm scared to ever weight lift again!

Heat works for me to get tight muscles to relax. Ice is good when there's inflammation to bring down. I don't suppose hubs knows how to gently massage those tight muscles?

OUCH!!! I've gone thru this myself a few times actually. I don't lift weights - it's just cumulative injuries. First, please listen to your signals ;-) Your body will tell you what it's ready for. Second, have you ever considered a Chiropractor? i know some people are probably screaming bloody murder right now but I've become a believer. Many/most don't do the "cracking" like they used to. That always frightened me. I will say though that I've had to go to my Chiropractors office walking like Granndpa McCoy - and a day later was walking normally again - and without the use of tylenol or muscle relaxers.
