I had the longest day ever at work today, and I am so surprised I am even leaving a journal. I literally had to take my contacts out midday and just go squinting for the rest of the day night. I knew it was going to be a transition after going from being unemployed for so long, but clearly the learning curve here is steep. I don't think i'm truly cut out for the corporate world, but at this point I have to do what it takes so I can make ends meet and invest in my business. I ended up working 11hrs, which made me stir crazy after a while. All I could think about was this website b/c I haven't been around situations I couldn't control in so long that it really freaked me out when I could smell people eating food at their desks; I wasn't even hungry, but I wanted to eat. Then I went into the kitchen and it was nothing but, fruit, chips, granola bars, cookies, coffee, just tons of snacks, and this is a pretty prestigious place so it was not crap food. I've never seen a company stock Kashi granola bars and Pirates Booty. I was so proud of myself I was able to resist though. I had this lovely mirror that I walked past like 14 times (I'm still drinking tons of water) so every time I had to go to the rest room I could see how good I looked and I was able to stay on track. There's a cafeteria downstairs, and since I wasn't sure of their microwave/refrigerator situation I brought lunch today, but for now on I might bring shakes or lean meats+veggies in a steam bag? I haven't yet decided.

My legs are crazy sore now though, I think it just got the memo that they worked hard last night. I'm continuously impressed w. my lifting. I was able to lift 17.5lbs last night, I think it was some kind of squats I was doing, I could only do 7 of the 12 but I would've never been able to attempt it before. I really need to get my remote control fixed/replaced though b/c its ruining my workout rotations lol. i can't skip down to the next track on my dvd player, so I can't workout to certain programs in the am

b/c i'm obsessed w. getting a short bob...

Sounds like you had a long day. It's awesome that you were able to endure without falling to all those temptations. One day those Kashi bars might come in handy, like if you forget or don't have time for breakfast. I don't know what Pirate's Booty is though, it sounds funny. Shakes probably won't be enough with all the smells. You'll need warm food or a yummy salad w lots of protein. I watched the biggest loser tonight for the first time in a long time, and they continuously look back to see what they did the first day compared to the present and it is an inspiration. Let your lifting struggles be just that for the future! :o) Congrats on the job too BTW! Keep up the hard work!

thanks for the kind words christlet! I definitely loaded up on liquids and surprisingly i had grilled chicken breast from the cafe which lasted me for a good 8hrs until i got home. between the 2+liters of water, coffee, tea, wtc i was borderline floating. I'm just glad I'm not emotionally eating, or letting stress cause me to indulge in salty things! I hope you're diet is progressing just as well! :)

Protein & Fiber! They're the best for keeping you full, huh? I am a HUGE emotional eater! I HATE that! I also love salty things. I eat a mini bag of popcorn every night, but it has fiber, is a whole grain, and is not terribly high in calories. So, that's okay... right? My diet is back on track. I had a bad few days b/c of a few get-togethers at church that I just pigged out at... :o. Oops... It's okay though. It happens... What can you do? I'm okay with it, right now all I want is to maintain. I would just like to make it to next summer and still be this weight, & not gain like crazy over the winter.

Well done on surviving your first day in your new job. I'm sure you'll get into the swing of things when you've settled in - the first week is always hard. Good job on the emotional and stress eating too.

Getting into the work routine can be tough if you've been off for a while. I notice it after a week off. We just get used to our routines and even the best of change is hard. YOu did a good job resisting those snacks. Don't worry you will get used to it and be back to your oldself in no time. Give it a couple weeks. Have a great day!
