I feel the same way, once my husband goes to bed it's like I can have something I am not suppose to. I have to stop buying ice cream, I say it's for my kids or granbabies when they come over, but I am the one who eats it.

I can so relate. I did so good yesterday until my son went to bed. Then the popcorn called to me. And then the ice cream. I have to stop buying that stuff. I'm really going to find something other to do than just watch TV.

First, STOP buying the stuff you can't/shouldn't have. If it's not there, you can't eat it. Second, buy yourself some snack stuff that you CAN have so when you need to satisfy your snack urge you can do so without derailing your efforts. Experiment with foods and find new ones that you like - if you do that you'll miss the foods you used to like less and less. Also, remember, you have to want to do this for yourself - and be accountable to yourself. Sure, your family may not know you're sneaking food late at night but are you only changing your lifestyle for them? or for yourself? I don't mean to sound harsh - I know this is a difficult change. I've literally cried because I wanted something so badly but knew that I couldn't/shouldn't have it. I'd become addicted to carbs and I used them like a drug when I was bored, upset, sad, depressed. It was a hard habit to kick and I STILL struggle - but it CAN be done. And sometimes I give in to the cravings and have something I shouldn't have - but when I do I do it very mindfully. I make a very deliberate decision that I'm going to eat "x" food and I'm going to enjoy it. Then, it's right back on plan. If I can do this, I promise you, SO CAN YOU!

It doesn't matter who sees you eating bad foods cause your body will respond the same way. I know some of this go into this journey for others, but unless you want to lose weight for YOU, this will never work. You know you are eating badly when nobody is watching, and if YOU want to stop, you have to stop yourself. Agree with RSC, I've cried at times due to cravings being so strong and having to tell myself no. The hardest part of any plan is not losing weight, but changing your brain. Not using food as a reward or a substitute for boredom, sadness, happiness, whatever. Food is fuel. Why put substandard fuel into yourself when you can have premium fuel (veggies, natural foods, no chemicals) which will make the machine (your body) work better? You need a good 2 weeks of clean eating to see how much a difference this Way of eating really makes you body feel. You will have more energy. You will not feel bloated. You won't feel guilty. You will lose weight.

Thank you all so much, this is what I need. I know I can do this and not for anyone esle but myself. I am going to stop buying the comfort foods I have used in the past and going to start looking for better foods for when I think I need the comfort of food. Again thank you.

Your foods for today (9/27) look very, very good! Nice balance, good protein, net carbs in line w/Induction. Nice work!!

Agree with your friends above about clearing out your pantry of bad stuff; just know that after the first week of really eating properly, the cravings will go away. Really! And, if you have to cheat that first week then eat something like a cheese stick or a pepperoni stick, something that won't send you into worse cravings.

What everyone here said is true. You did very well today, had Jello for a snack. I love the sugar free Gelatin very much. I add a Truvia sweetener and a package of Knox gelatin to 2 large packs of SF Jello. This lasts my husband and I for several nights.

Your food looked great today, the thing that you really have to change is your mind....the hardest thing to do. You are only hurting yourself by cheating with Atkins it just won't work, it is easier for you to do WW if you just can't stop eating those things. But if you give yourself 2 weeks absolute minimum without all those bad carbs, you will feel so much better about yourself. You really can wean yourself off that crap. It is worth it for you, we are all here for you and will help you along the way. Atkins is a way of life, not something you can change all the time. But it really does work if you stick at it.....Best of luck......

If you really stay on Induction for the two weeks...your appetite and cravings should disappear because of your stable blood sugar. It was quicker than two weeks for me. You'll still want to eat when it's meal time,..but no powerful hunger cravings. I find it helps to have pre-measured portions of "luxury snacks" made ahead of time in the fridge during induction. That way I feel like I am "treating" myself to something special and don't miss the things I can't have. It also helps that they're already prepared if they needed cooking so I can just microwave quickly when I get the urge to snack. Tell yourself that when you get past induction, you can allow yourself a Breyer's Carb Smart (5 carb) ice cream bar in the evening which tastes just like the regular Breyer's ice cream! I like the chocolate dipped "Bars" because they're portion control for me, unlike the ice cream which I have to scoop and measure. (But the Breyer's scoop type Carb Smart Ice Cream is delicious as well.) Lucerne (Safeway brand) makes a similar bar which is delicious and only 3 carbs! In the meantime, it's very encouraging to see the pounds drop off during induction!! Hang in there! :)

I should not have encouraged you with the cream cheese frosting on the MIM! You should stick exactly to Induction as described on the Atkins website, then I KNOW you will have some success. Just know there are many yummy things you can add in as time goes on, things that will help with your new way of eating for life.
