Not really sure what's going on here...
Everything on the food side yesterday was on the up and up... and I walked a mile and a half lastnight for the second night in a row. I just consulted my pill pack and it seems that "shark week" is about four days away. Maybe I'm coming down with the dreaded bloat? In any case, not seeing movement is disappointing when I've been working so hard. Nothing to be done but what I've been doing I guess? Today I'll be working on patience along with my regularly programmed schedule.

Christine, remember that it is short lived. After "shark week" you will see the drop. Hang in there. you are good to go.

Thanks NavymomT, I needed that!

So true what NavyMom said - after it's over you'll likely see a very encouraging drop! Keeping your water uptake up will help it all flush away. (Love it, "shark week!" I don't miss that one bit! - it's the silver lining to menopause.)

you are welcome. I see you have about as much to lose as i do. i will track your progress closely and your posts in case what i am doing stops working. maybe i can use your plan(s) if i get stuck.

Hang in there! There will always be day-to-day fluctuations that don't necessarily reflect fat loss/gain. Just pay attention to the general trends and you'll be good :)

You're Good to Go, girl. The scale is a fickle mistress. Have you considered tracking a Moving Average of your daily scale weight? This can help net out the daily fluctuations and give a more accurate picture of progress over time.

Tracking a moving average of my daily scale weight...hmm...where do I find that at this site? I'm a slave to my scale, but the diet I'm on urges people to weigh daily to see the progress. Did well with my intake yesterday and my scale showed 1.4 lbs. lost. I only says 1 lb. here.

Took me a minute to figure out what you meant by shark week :). But everyone has days/weeks of no loss or even worse a gain. Just have to keep our eye on the ball and not let it get you down.

Lol I'm overdue for food time this morning so my brain is sooo not figuring out any moving average. I just know it's been moving down every day! Thank you all for the encouragement. It does help! I'm gonna go make breakfast now. Laters ✌

My trainer always says, it's not about the day to day fluctuations, but the over all trend. I am no stranger to morning disappointments, but i find the are sooner or later followed by pretty good drops!

So hard when this happens... Trust the process... stay focused...

I just added the Happy Scale app to my iPad to track weight by moving average. Thanks for the reminder, @jimmie. Last time I thought about moving averages, I didn't have an iPad and didn't find it worth using a spreadsheet. This app makes it easy, and historical weights can even be entered.

@K No clue that there was an app for this. Nice to know. I use excel, but I am a data nutter...

ITA with Notelaine. Sometimes too I think we need to acknowledge that the body machine sometimes goes into a stall - but as long as you're giving it the fuel it needs (and not more!) and giving it the conditions it needs to run properly it will eventually get back to all systems normal. In the meantime, you're doing what you need to do to keep it in tip top operational condition!

I was totally feeling this way last week. The feeling will go away, especially during or after TOM. Hang in there!

Do you include any strength training in your exercise routine? Dumbbells or body weight exercises. As you add muscle, which is heavier/denser than fat, you can appear to not be making progress, when you in fact are. More muscle is good though in the long run as it increases your metabolism (burns more calories) throughout the day. Also, there are the plateaus where you body is adjusting, slowing metabolism due to a lower intake of calories. Exercise through those plateaus until your body has adjusted, realizes its not actually starving, and turns the furnace back up.

Thanks guys. Your positivity helps a lot!

No Kobe I don't. I'm well aware of the fact that muscle weighs more than fat. That would be a decent problem to have, but alas... that's not my deal right now. All I'm doing is walking.
