Hey Phil, what part of Texas are you from? My gut feeling says San Antonio.. Or somewhere in Gonzales county? Am I right? Am i right? Today many of us are practicing intuition (thanks to Knucles lol)

Smarty, when I went and snarffed 4 slices of pepperoni pizza, someone mentioned carb cycling and linked to a video, I watched it.....it was cool, could have some merit. Anyway, my next weigh in....down 3 lbs. Who knows, it might have been the carbs :)

San Antonio is about six hours away, of course in Texas that's like a couple of counties over. lol I live in the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas, Lufkin/Nacogdoches are the closest cities, I'm out in the boonies of Cherokee County; pine forests, cow pastures, and rolling hills, time forgot about Cherokee County, I like it that way.

You live in my families neck of the woods Phil, most of my family lives around Jasper-Beaumont area, hubby's family lives in Nac.

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nac, I went to Angelina College in Lufkin before transferring over. I liked AC better. lol I love East Texas, the summers are hot and humid, but that's the extreme, winter is practically non-existent, we've been working in the yard and garden since January, Zone 8, there's not much we can't grow. I live in Cherokee County, but I can be in Angelina County in less than a minute lol, Nacogdoches County in five minutes, and Houston County in about seven minutes, country living is in my blood, but it's infectious, one of my neighbors (relative term, he lives about half a mile away lol), his family is originally from my small town, but he moved off to St. Louis, Kansas City, and ended up in New York City before coming back to East Texas, you couldn't make him leave now, it's like that for a lot of people that get a good taste of life out here in the woods.

Awesome Phil, chicken territory Nacogdoches !! My husband wants to uproot our family and go to Houston- lot less regulations than Cali, I bet you hear that all the time in Texas! Ok, my intuition was way off! Sounds like a nice place to live out there

Debrafrederick!! Really? That's so awesome- I think I had a case of Carbcycling yesterday lol.. Stepped on the scale and saw a number I hadn't seen in years, it was a true blessing.. Or science... Or just plain Lucky!!

Chicken farms are pretty common all over East Texas, just about all agriculture is pretty common. Houston is a good place, but if I were ya'll I'd look at the Beaumont area, Tyler, Shreveport Louisiana, Longview, Lufkin or Nacogdoches before I moved to Houston.

Chickens! Smarty, do you raise chickens?
18 may. 16 por el miembro: debrafrederick
Phil, he likes Katy near Houston.. Do you know of it?
18 may. 16 por el miembro: smartygirlCA
Debrafrederick no, I only eat em!! Lol do you raise chickens?

I have a few....5 to be exact, but chicken is the primary business here. Crider Foods is the #1 chicken production company in the world, it's a mile from my Post Office, most of the canned and frozen chicken you see as store brands is manufactured by Crider. Chicken is what keeps this tiny town alive :)

LOL, and Smarty, you can't tell Katy and Houston apart, it's swallowed everything around it, my hometown is 40 miles north of Houston on I-45, place called Conroe, it's been pretty much swallowed up too

I'm really familiar with Texas by map- not in person (only been to Dallas & El Paso, Laredo, Sanderson, Ft Stockton & Van Horn) but yes I know Conroe by map!! That's so interesting Debrafrederick ! I guess Katy is no longer a suburb, eh? I'm super impressed at the school ratings out there- lots of 8's & 9's. That interests me since I have little ones. The best school where I live in Cali (public school) ranks at 4.

I was born in Houston, raised in Conroe....at the time it was a semi-small town. I hated Houston, the traffic, the noise, the skyscrapers....but I forgot you live in LA and Houston is a tiny town compared to that giant metropolis. Texans are great fun loving friendly people. Ya'll would probably love it there and you would think that the traffic is light :)

That's true about traffic- really doesn't matter where you live, it always sucks! Only thing is L.A. Always ranks worst in traffic! Do they have many hurricanes out there in Houston area? I hardly ever see rain, when it sprinkles, we all freak out and everyone panicks on the road! Lol

There have been a few hurricanes that caused severe damage, Hurricane Alicia in 1983 was one I was in, I went through 5 in South Fla. The Texas coast is fairly wet, lots of lakes, rivers, flooding is common. Winters very mild, summers hot and sticky
