My gym membership expired in mid-December and I've been reluctant to renew it. Not that it's expensive, and the Fit for Life is also open 24 hours, but it was also too busy and the equipment wasn't in very good shape; I'd often overheat on the treadmill making it a very unpleasant experience.

I've decided instead to train independently. I have a world-class road bike I intend to use to bike from Montreal to Quebec City with (about 300km) by Labour Day. I also have a bran new pair of running shoes and a kick-ass love for running. My obstacle for that so far, aside from the ever challenging school aspect of my life, have been the dreadful weather -- snow storms and subzero temperatures. I've decided then that I'll do some cross training; on those days where it's not sunny and it's blistering cold, I will stay home and bike. On those days where can go out, I will dutiful train for that half-marathon I've had on my mind for the last few months.

Now that Tuddy has bought a new Touch, he'll finally agree to come out with me as well.

I'm psyched. And perhaps now I can balance my school, work and family life as well.

I'll give it my best shot.
