3.1 miles walked this morning with doggies....cloudy, damp, dreary day but mid-60's so shorts, sweatshirt and a vest kept me fairly comfortable.

Of course, I expected a major change in weight due to my 1-day of changes....LOL! No real change, so today will be a carbon copy of yesterday and we'll go from there. I really like the chocolate whey protein shake first thing in the morning.

I suppose I should say that I'm trying to blend a bit of Atkins with a bit of the 6-Week Cure, from the Drs. Eades (of Protein Power). They're both quite compatible but I was just looking for something to change up a few things. And, about a week ago, I upped my acetyl L-carnitine from 1000 mg to 2000 mg. I've been on 1000 mg forever, but a re-reading of either Atkins or PP indicated that sometimes one needs as high as 5000 mg to gain the full fat-targeting effect. LATER NOTE: Only stayed on this regimen a week and then went back down to just 1000 mg. The higher dosage SEEMED to make my heart race a bit.

Yesterday, my carb percentage was 9%, the lowest I've had in a very, very long time....again, we'll see if this makes any difference. This was because I was trying to keep my total carbs as low as reasonably possible....not overly hard as long as one stays away from any products with sugar alcohols...which is a good idea anyway.

My legs have been sore since doing Stairmaster last week. Nothing that stops me from doing anything else, just an undercurrent of soreness. Of course, then I wonder if the uptick in weight is, in part, due to some muscle "damage." I'm not ignoring my own part for the uptick by eating too much food, but I just wonder if "some" of the uptick could be due to the muscle issue.

And, finally....I tried blackberries a week ago or so, for the first time, and they're great!

See you have been busy while I've been "on break". I think it is great to change up your diet (keep your body confused). Sorry the scale isn't cooperating yet but it just may need a little more time.

Great job on analizing your situation. You sure have been busy. Yes, muscles could be some of it, but hang in there. We have a huge blackberry patch here that produces tons of berries every year. More than what we can use, so we call in friends to come and pick. One year we picked over 40 gallons. I was all scratches from head to toe.lol Have a wonderful day my friend.:):)

Sandy, I think that the changes may be just what you need. Great job with the carbs yesterday. I think that part of it may be the exercise. Glad you enjoyed the blackberries, they are one of my favorites...that and raspberries!!! YUMMY! Have a great weekend!

Buffy, February is proving to be much more of a challenge that I thought it would be. It turns out I didn't need to join a challenge, after all, I have one of my own right here! Have a good weekend.

Laurie, my grandmother always had raspberries....don't know why they didn't grow blackberries as well, as they sure seem like they're in the same family. At least now I have an alternative to high-priced raspberries...the blackberries were downright cheap the last time I waas in the store!

Stef, I'm so glad I tried blackberries. Of course, right now, I can only "afford" a couple in my daily plan, but it's still nice. So glad to read you got your walk in yesterday and that you're feeling better.

Bren, it's funny but I always think that I'm in a rut, food-wise. I use that "Copy yesterday's" meal link so-o-o often! Anyway....berry pie (or cobbler) sounds excellent....making my mouth water! Take care in the snow.
