Took my running outside this morning. Cool and wet. Ran 3 1/4 miles. Some hills but not bad. Ran with my "Virtual Training Partner" on my GPS. Got spoiled by the treadmill setting the pace for me. Forgot how difficult it was to maintain a pace on my own. Fell behind the pace of my virtual partner, so I was about 1/10 of a mile behind him when I finished. I suppose that's not awful; it just made me contemplate how that part of it was done by Jillian on the treadmill. I came to the conclusion that the Jillian Michaels event training schedules aren't really the best for someone trying to build a good foundation. Most of the expert advice I have found online recommend adding no more than 10% to your mileage in any one week, but then falling back a little in mileage the following week to grow, and then increasing in mileage the week after that. Her programs, on the other hand, just continually increase in intensity week after week. It takes more time, but I can customize my own workouts on the treadmill by picking and choosing the workouts from all of the available ones on iFit, and putting them in my own order of preference. Hope that makes sense to someone.

My better half went to the radiologist today. He told her he has seen a lot of mammograms and can usually tell if the cancer is in the lymph nodes, and he doesn't think hers are. Let's hope he is right. Anyway, she is not quite so stressed as she was; but, in reality, she'll have to hear it from the surgeon on Thursday that the lymph nodes were negative before she relaxes. She has a friend that visited with her yesterday, that went through the same thing, and has been cancer-free for 7 years now. She told my wife that the hardest thing for her to deal with was everyone coming up to her and asking her how she was feeling - like the only significant thing about her was the fact that she was a cancer survivor. Said, it got very annoying. I think I can understand where she was coming from. I'm sure people meant well, but after being told she was cancer-free for a year or two, you would think people would `. . . Oh well, never mind.

I stayed at a really nice, really fancy hotel this weekend. The towels were so thick I could hardly get my suitcase shut.

Thanks all! Sazy, that virtual training partner is just a built-in feature of this Garmin GPS I bought years ago for running. It shows this little graphic on the display of two people running one above the other - me and my virtual training partner, and it shows which one of us is leading or lagging behind. And it continuously provides a readout of how many feet I am lagging or leading. I can set mph and distance, time and distance, and I don't remember what all 4 options are, but it helps keep you on pace.
