I'm trying Keto dieting for the last couple of days and seeing if that might work for me. I have been less hungry by eating the healthier fats. It's basically a very low carb diet. I figured it can't hurt, I'm tired of being hungry. Don't give up and be cautious about increasing calories unless it's the good whole food type of calories!!

Give low carb and/or keto a try! Me and my husband started 3 weeks ago and although it is really difficult, I can truly say I am never hungry. I have lost 8 pounds and my husband 17. I eat on average 1600 calories a day but I focus on staying under 25 net carbs a day.

I've tried different levels of dieting and it seems that the lower you go on calories and the more exercise you do, the more the body gets resistant. I guess it thinks you are starving and tries to lower the metabolism. Anyway, I am trying a more moderate approach now to see if it works better. Everyone is diff but its hard

like I said...I've been doing low carb for 7 years and it does work for me but I find myself bored after so many years....I try to do 20 net carbs (subtracting fiber from carb count of foods) but I'm considering allowing a higher carb amount...keeping my food whole food still though

I bet if you ate high carbs (high fibre diet with lentils, beans, anything with a ton of fibre, stayed away from the junk carbs), you'd do fine too.

I feel your pain literally. This past week my calories were under 600 four days consecutive and barely a 1000 the fifth day. I actually gained two lbs. How the heck can that happen?! I'm fasting now. There's no way I can gain on a water fast. Of course I suspect the culprit or trouble maker was diet soda. I've been a serious soda addict. Someone suggested it might be fooling my body into believing there is sugar there. Idk if that's possible but frustration has driven me to give it up. Besides fasting is a great detox and plateau buster. Good luck.

Keto lifestyle really does work. This is coming from a girl who has always had trouble losing weight. 9 months down 65 pounds. Drinking the right amount of water, taking the right vitamins, and portioning is key. I haven't worked out once. I stay a strict 20grams of net carbs a day. Have you ever heard of Dietdoctor.com? This is what helped me and its FREE. Free information at a great lifestyle change.
Good Luck!
I hope you find your answers!

I totally agree with wanting that sense of freedom, when you eat anything with moderation, and don't stave yourself on any particular diet... It sounds like you have a great plan! I think sometimes we just need to look inside and come up with some ideas that are very organic and natural to us. I'm all for reducing portions gradually and being patient to see gradual results! I think your sister has a good plan. When we go too low on calories, our metabolism slows down... By the way, you look beautiful in the picture! Good luck!!!

Caloric conversion is important to monitor no matter what other strategies you're employing. Low carb, high carb, only-eating-beans-diet, whatever it is the calories are going to matter. It's simple math: if intake > expenditure, your body will store energy in fat cells; if intake < expenditure, your body will burn fat stores for energy. All this to say that "calorie counting" is a really good way to make sure you're on the right track. But that means counting your BMI + exercise and subtracting it from the calories you ate. If the result is negative (and it doesn't matter whether those calories were butter cream icing or celery) then you will burn fat stores. You can find a lot of calculators online that will tell you an ideal caloric intake based on your expected activity level and desired rate of weight loss. The best ones will take your gender, age, weight and height into account.

It took me 3 whole months to lose 4 lbs. But now I realize that during that time a was losing inches instead of weight. So don't give up! One month of dieting is nothing. It's a lifetime. Counting calories and vegetables with protein for dinner works for me. I started today since i gained 4 lbs with multiple vacations this summer. Goal is to lose 15 pounds. Bests always!

I understand where you're coming from. Complete deprivation from a whole group of foods isn't sustainable for a lot of us. I get bored on low carb too, to the point where certain foods make me sick. You do what's best for you.

I did low carb off and on for 7 years...I've just noticed that cheating gets closer and closer together over the years and I'm trying to find the right fit for life long lifestyle type thing. Low carb does work big time...I've lost 70 lbs TWICE doing it...unfortunately I keep falling off the wagon and gaining it back so I'm trying to find something I can do forever!!! Life long weight loss has been such a struggle for me :(., I'm also struggling with depression that this will be my THIRD try....It's amazing how I can forget every time how miserable I am this fat and allow myself to get there again and then it's sooooooo slow waiting for it to come off AGAIN

Low carbs have worked great for me for years, but now that I am older it doesn't work as well nor as fast. Now what I have to do is low carb and count calories. I try to keep my calories below 1600 a day and my carbs below 20 grams a day.
