Happy Memorial Day, everyone. Be sure to take the time today, in the midst of picnics and barbeques and summertime fun, to remember the real reason for this holiday. For myself, I have an uncle who died in WWII and a classmate who died in the Pentagon attacks of 9/11. Their service and sacrifices are not forgotten.

Today is just a quiet day around here; not much going on. DH and I had a leisurely breakfast of blueberry pancakes and I'll be grilling some steaks and sausages in an hour or so.

No exercise walking for me today...at least, I don't think so. I'm OK with that, as I'm still a bit more tired than usual and it's really hot outside. I groomed my dogs, in advance of one of them heading to the vet tomorrow...just his routine check-up.

Just because I wondered about this the other day, I checked to see what my weight was 1 year ago today. As close as I can tell, I'm about 17 pounds lighter than I was a year ago. Not a huge difference, but respectable, so I'll take it! Esp. considering where I am in my journey. It also explains why the swimsuit tops I bought on clearance last year don't fit so well anymore and why the shorts of last summer are too big now.

It also appears that my calorie tweak of a few weeks ago is continuing to work. I should end up the month of May with at least 3 pounds lost, maybe 4, if I can get my blue line back by Thursday. I can work with that.

The only downside to the tweak is that I do feel hunger more often...not the keep-you-up-late-at-night hunger, but just a general feeling that I want to eat something. I'm still working out how to get more veggies in my menus to try to alleviate that hunger. What I'm seeing is my total carbs coming up into that 10-20% range, more typical of OWL. And, I'm cutting back on the protein just a bit to conserve calories, but still targeting at least 75g. per day. The Volek & Phinney books are showing a range for protein that goes a bit lower than the Atkins book's ranges, so I'm thinking if I need to move a bit lower at some point, that may be OK....to some degree.
