Update - Doctor visit was actually really positive. All of my systems are functioning normally with the exception of my lazy pancreas. Which, apparently is just going to remain a slacker for the foreseeable future. I am going to have to stay on my current medications for now. This is actually a good thing. How can this be good you ask? Well - because of all the positive things I am doing I am able to keep things working as they should be - stable. I am scheduled for a revisit in 6 months which is great. I am so grateful that there was no permanent kidney or liver damage and that I am actually feeling really good. The Dr. was a realist and noted that I will eventually have to increase my insulin somewhere down the road as my pancreas continues to fail. This is all very manageable and there is no definite time line, so I am going to live life everyday to the fullest. Which is what we are suppose to be doing anyway...right. I am truly blessed to have the support of friends and family especially my amazing wife who has been my rock through this adventure. My lesson from all this today - get out and live, love as often as you can, don't wait until there is the "right time" to do hat you are passionate about - now is the time. let go of those past hurts and resentments, forgive, there are no guarantees in this life and we are only given this moment.
