While exercising yesterday, I hurt my foot. Not just my foot but my Achilles tendon. How am I suppose to complete my exercise challenge if I can't even walk without screaming out in pain. Today, I saw my doctor and I have to wear a ankle compression sock. Really?

I am finally home and I am frustrated. I didn't eat anything healthy and I just don't feel good about today. I am going to take a deep breath and go to bed. Tomorrow is a new day with new possibilities.

I did walk today but I am paying for it now. Thank you. I never thought to work on my upper body. Glad I shared.

Do take it easy. I Partially tore mine when I was younger. I ignored it, and I ended up in a cast for six weeks. From what I know now, I was extremely lucky that I didn’t tear it all the way and end up having to have surgery.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago, I was encouraged to do upper body stuff in the mean time. Something is better than nothing. Hope it gets better quickly

Forget the challenge. Concentrate on letting this thing heal otherwise you can run into long term problems. Elevate, ice, heat. Stay off of it as best you can for a few I days. Do what the doctor says! Compression sock? Hmmm.

Oops hit the wrong button. Did he actually say compression SOCK?

If you have access to a pool, a pool might help. I don't mean use the leg though. Gentle floating, using the arms, gentle excercise in the water.

Stick with eating right. That is what makes the biggest difference. Also, is there a swimming pool you can work out in? I hurt my foot two weeks ago. I signed up for a local indoor pool at a rehab center, and I work out in the water. It doesn't hurt my foot.

Wright2018– according to the first part of her post she does not have planter fasciitis, but an injury to her Achilles’ tendon. Both are painful.

I hear what you’re saying.

@kennaMorton/@eboniWright, ---I apologize for my oversight and curiosity, but hence the reasons I mentioned---if it were an achilles you would have had orders to refrain from use entirely, walk with crutches, or what I refer to as a walking aid (looks like a bike with 1 pad to kneel the bad leg on while pushing off with the other good foot like skateboarding so to speak..) An Achilles typically would have been wrapped and placed in a walking boot which can be pumped up with air, (not casted) for weight/pressure absorption, not simply a wrap or compression sock. Typically a wrap will not provide the necessary support for this type of problem but would be okay for a plantar fasciitis/ligament sprain issue.... Either way, I still wish you a good recovery.

Hello Eboni, Sorry to hear of your recent setback. This is the way to analyze this ---as a setback, not a life ending event (although it does place a damper on your plans) remember this is only temporary.....May sound harsh (not my intent) but I have faith in you and there are many of us cheering for you ! Now that this has been said, did the doctor say it was a torn achilles tendon or sprain, or plantar fasciitis? Was X-rays taken to ensure no further injury. Sorry for my curiosity...remember each injury will take time to heal, some longer than others. In this scenario, try your best to work around these areas....Use slower pace, longer times on an incumbent bike instead of elliptical, treadmill, or stair climber (no running/jogging/extensive standing/ or extended walks). If you have access, swim --these 2 exercises will avoid more damage to the foot as you are not placing direct pressure to the foot/ankle area, despite using the foot. You can still keep your healthy eating plan and work upper body parts if needed. Plantar fasciitis typically requires the use of specialized socks or support wraps as does ankle sprains. If Plantar fasciitis, it can take many months to heal properly and work back to normal, but eliminates potential for surgeries....Remember to take your time, and do not rush back to exercising hard. Limit usages if possible, heat/ice/elevate when able too. Muscle rubs may help prior to wrapping as the heat will keep the area loose while wrapped (similar to a warm-up when exercising). After care has been taken for a while perform slow, limited range of motion stretching but not immediately as to prevent further damage. Example of common exercise for this area is to ----sit in a chair and lightly roll a tennis ball or racquetball/or water bottle with your foot. Do not stand on it, merely roll your foot back and forth across it to massage the area without placing weight on in it (Again do this from a seated position). I wish you all the best, a speedy recovery, and keep us informed !!!! As you are important to us in the FS community.
