I don't believe in low-carb or keto diets. I've tried them, and the side effects—like gout, constipation, fatigue, and bad breath—weren't worth the weight loss. Through experience, I've learned that the only sustainable, long-term approach to eating is a balanced diet. Over-restricting leads to failure eventually. I've always known that I can't stick to a diet that's too restrictive.
I don't restrict what I eat—variety is key for me. I do count calories, and while it's a hassle, the results are worth it. If I want something sweet and it fits within my calorie limit, I enjoy it without guilt. On the days I eat, I stick to around 1,800 calories during the week and about 2,200 calories on weekends.
Fasting has had the biggest impact on my weight loss. Trust me, 95% of successful weight loss comes down to what you eat. On Mondays and Fridays, I don't eat anything. It was incredibly difficult at first and required immense mental strength, but now I'm used to it (though it's still challenging). I've become "progrivated"—the more progress I make, the more motivated I become (and the inverse is true as well).
I burn 5,000 calories each week through spinning five times a week. When I started, I could barely manage 10 minutes and felt like I was about to die when I got off the bike. Now, I do 110 minutes per session with an average heart rate of 140-150 bpm, which is a high-intensity workout.
It takes time, and you have to be in it for the long haul.
