The self-control is the hardest part for me. I have this app on my phone, and try to scroll through whenever I am wanting something that won't help me on this journey. Hang in there!

Negative begets negative. Replace I can't control myself with I WILL control myself. If you have junk food in your home, trash it. Replace activities that trigger eating with other activities. Track every bite of food you eat. This journey is not quick or easy, but it is possible! You must take control.

Me too, this weekend. Bread is so good. I'm reading "Wheat Belly" recommended by I Am Thor and it's validating a lot of things I think I already knew. Once I start eating wheat I'm on a spiral of carb-eating that is difficult to stop. Must stay away!!!

It's not that easy to just throw away food like that. I am 16 and have 5 other kids in the house eating that food and aren't dieting so I can't just throw it away. When it is not being eaten I eat it because self-control is the number ONE hardest thing in losing weight. So it's not about throwing it away. My mom buys the food so I can't throw it away. I also can't ask her to stop buying it just for me because all the other kids ask for it. The only thing is if you are an adult then you should learn self-control. Then you can throw the food out or go for walk whenever you feel hungry and your really not. Also drink lots of water until your stomach is full you will trick your stomach to think you're full.

Right... self-control it the most important thing, I have all the junk food at home and I just can't throw it away , we have to learn how to deal with that

Just don't buy it?? If I usually once a month have a sugar or chocolate urge .. I have to really think about getting up going for a walk to the store to go get it... then at the very least there is the time to talk myself out of it.. and if not at least I've done a 20 minute walk to compensate. If its in the cupboard you will never win. Just look at that stuff as harmful and replace it with better delicious snacks like nuts or berries... even whole yoghurt cheese or dates!!

Not sure of your lifestyle, but maybe a hobby that takes up time that may be spent overeating. Something that gives you joy and something to focus on instead of food. This is helpful for me.

We still can lose weight eating processed food, if we are counting calories and not overeating

@SoCalPam, Dr. William Davis' "Wheat Belly" program is inspirational. Read the book and I followed the program, religiously, for a year. It is not easy. You really must make your own foods and stay away from certain pre-made, so-callled gluten free commercially available products.

Stay strong Judy. I can tell you from my personal journey so far that this is not an easy one by any means. But if there is someone who can do it, it is you. The fact that you are thinking in this direction is a huge step. Be proud of it and own it. Your control will come back to you for sure and you will reach your goal.

@EmilyLittle, no I understand at 16 you are not responsible for the food that comes into your home. But you do have control over what you eat. My husband has always been thin. There are foods in my home that he eats and I don't. It may be difficult, but I am sure you can stay strong.

Hey, suck it up..... We have all been there and we have all found ways to move forward, with some backward movement also. Keep your diary everyday, when you feel that insurmountable moment, think mentally what is triggering it....... then sidestep it and move on. I baked cheese danishes this weekend for family members and did they look good. But... I asked myself if I really, really and really wanted them and all the problems they give. NOPE, NO WAY, NADA and BUBKES.... I had a cup of coffee instead. YOU GOT THIS>>>Changing things around is hard work....

I've experienced the same thing but the losses were bigger than the gains. if your gains are bigger than your losses try a revaluation of your plan (calories, macros, etc.)
