Diario de Djburney, 14 oct. 12

Well, it's been a very interesting weekend. The lunch date yesterday was pretty boring, and at the risk of sounding superficial myself, I have a hard time with a comb over. Just go bald. It really wasn't the hair on the guy that was the problem though, he was nice, but I kept finding my mind drifting while he talked and talked and talked....

But the good news is that I have another date with the Friday night guy (Kevin) for lunch today. We talked on the phone for a couple of hours yesterday, things are clicking with him. We are making plans for hiking in the mountains near Sedona next weekend. Fall is so beautiful in that area, or any season really. I'm really looking forward to that.

This morning I went hiking with a girlfriend on one of the desert mountain trails in north Scottsdale. It's the first time I've been hiking since I started having debilitating arthritic pain in my knee 4 years ago. I had a total knee replacement in June of 2011, and it took most of a year to fully heal. And of course, you know my weight history during that time. It was joyful and exhilarating to be back on the trail today on such a beautiful morning, with absolutely no pain. I am so happy that I had no problems. This is something I can do frequently now! There are also mountain trails about 10 minutes from my house in suburban Phoenix that are not too difficult. It's going to take me a while to get in shape for much uphill stuff, but I know I will get back to it!

It's as if I have been reborn in my 50s!
