The irresistible puppy, here by popular demand. Also sharing something really big for me... I'm getting a DXA scan. FAT tracking is a big issue for me, so skip this now if you don't want to read my longest post ever LOL (broke it up into 2 posts)... I've had a strong impulse since beginning the health journey to understand as much as possible about my own body... hoping the more I understand, the more I can do what's best for ME, without causing myself the unnecessary shame and harm that comes from 1. Comparing yourself and your body to others 2. Doing things that benefit others' bodies, but end up hurting yours... cause we're all different, special and beautiful in our own way. BUT... there's nothing wrong with comparing yourself to others IF THE INTENTION IS RIGHT. Pardon the tangent, but it's like when people say "I don't see color" in an attempt to stop racism... while avoiding it altogether, and dismissing the experience of people who's color IS used against them (as well as dismissing people who think diverse colors are beautiful). I DO see color, and actually appreciate the diverse shapes & colors of humanity. I judge people by CHARACTER, not cause I'm blind, but cause I SEE friends of various colors behave a lot more based on trauma, joy, dreams deferred, and goals reignited. Skin color IS a part of us, but many TRY to ignore it because of HOW IT'S BEEN USED to justify hate and violence. Due to racism, there's a lot of correlations between poverty and being Black, opportunity and closeness to "whiteness". But skin color does NOT equate to wealth or possibility... it just matters A LOT in the equation. NOW BACK TO FAT... First of all Fat is NOT equal to weight, anymore than Skin color is equal to Income level lol. But that's why I wrote this whole post... because IT IS RELATED. And due to the pain and confusion involved in body images people often TRY to ignore actual fat, and instead focus on weight. I am interested in comparing my body to others, to help us understand each other and ourselves more, NOT to justify a belief that one person's level of fat is better or worse than another's, or even a belief that one person's level of fat means the same thing to different people, because it doesn't... not even to their own body
