I'm feelin' the healthstyle mojo...yea!!
Yesterday did not turn out like I planned, but no worries - I got this! DIL#6's car broke down so GoodMan and I drove an hour down to their place to loan them my car until hers can be fixed - hopefully by Monday afternoon. I also forgot that I had a dinner to go to. The boss I had before I retired was named Citizen of the Year. I went to the awards dinner and sat with my former co-workers. My former boss (an optometrist) sold her business a few months ago and retired at 50 because of health issues. Seeing her was a reminder to me how blessed I am to be able to move my body and make healthy food choices to change my physical health. Not everyone can.
Even with all the changes to my schedule I was able to fit in 20 minutes on the elliptical and make healthy food choices. At the catered dinner I bypassed the rolls, potatoes, rice, pastas, and headed straight for the veggies and meat. I was mentally giving myself a good talking to before the dessert was brought out. I reminded myself how hard it was to detox from sugar and how I DON'T want to go through that again. Thankfully, the dessert didn't even appeal to me...but the truth is I still would have eaten it in the old days.
I have a busy weekend coming up as GoodMan and I host the Stand In the Gap group from the university. I will be making lots of food and I'll just be BUSY from now until Sunday. I will make plans for healthy food for me and GoodMan and even a little extra in case I have any health conscious students...because for me failing to plan is like planning to fail.
