Okay, this is nuts. I know it's not fat. Calipers are static. It should turn around soon. I look okay in the mirror. It's funny how we can be all about the pounds, and not about fit of clothes and general appearance. I think it's a western thing.

It has to be fluid retention and once you are feeling better everything will whoosh away again. Be patient.

@Bruce, did I miss something? I didn't know you were sick!

Yes, Brenda. I got into a granola bar that looked like the bars I'd eaten before, but these had peanuts. It's the first time in 25 years. I'm usually extremely careful. Wake up call for me.

For you that is life threatening! I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I'm allergic to peanuts too, I know what anaphylaxis feels like. Terrible, I'm sorry you went through that! Allergies to peanuts and tree nuts are especially dangerous because so many products are processed in the same plants with nuts. Even if I go for ice cream, I have to ask the person who's scooping to get a fresh scoop even though they have the ones out there soaking-because there are barrels of ice creams with peanuts that they scoop with those scoops. Anywho, feel better!

I never realized so many things have peanuts in them or have been touched by something with peanuts on it. That is very scary.

Hi Northernmusician, do you have other food allergies?
05 may. 16 por el miembro: smartygirlCA
@shapeshift. Thanks for the support. I hear you on the ice cream scoop. It can be tough because sometimes people simply don't believe that peanuts can be deadly for some people. In this case it was my foolishness and lack of vigilance. Let's hoping for another 25 years before the next mistake. I'll be 80 then. Maybe I'll still be here. Oh, and, I'm not allergic to tree nuts, just peanuts, which are a legume. Sandy aka Mom, funny you should ask that. Since peanuts are a legume, I have a serious distaste for all other legumes. The one exception is peas, which I can eat raw. If I eat cooked peas, I get a milder reaction very much like a peanut reaction. Sounds weird, but I know another person in town who experiences exactly the same. Oh, and liver. Okay, that's not technically an allergy. :)

Thanks, Misty. Feeling quite good. Missed a few hours of work. Otherwise it was fairly minor - compared to what it could have been.

My twins have so many food allergies, peas landed one in the hospital for 2 days! After blood testing and various reactions, they are allergic to: milk, eggs, chicken, white fish, beans, peanut, tree nut, soy (but soysauce ok), sweet potato, mango. Did you have this allergies as a child? I wonder if they will get better one day, I know the peanut is very scary of the allergies.

I did have the allergy as a child. I'm also asthmatic. Asthma tends to be cyclical. It wains and strengthens over time. Be careful with soyasauce. Some are fermented more than others and that may be what's making the difference. Stick to one brand if you can. I start taking antihistamines in the spring when the snow begins to melt. Snow mold is a problem. Yes, Virginia, there is snow mold.

Thank you for the advice on soysauce. My twins both have asthma too, that's the hardest part when weather gets cold and people around them get sick. Thank you for that information, never knew about snow mold, but it's another thing to be cautious about... Doesn't snow where I live, but when we visit the snow.

Snow mold usually isn't an issue until it starts to melt. It's tends to grow on the layers of snowfall.
