yesterday a woman stopped me and asked what I was doing to lose weight...I said "a lot. I gave up all drinking, I work out every week day at 5am, I meal prep and track everything I eat, plus I walk on my two 15 minute breaks and 30 minute lunch every day" and she straight looked me in my face doubtingly and said "you had surgery huh?" I was like....omg lol smh

Yeah, people make assumptions and don't listen. Annoying. One of my co-workers (T2D) asked how I lost weight; he was able to lose some but then had the surgery anyway. Problem is, it doesn't teach you how to eat to maintain the loss. I wish him well, but no surgery for me.

years ago my mom went thru weight watchers and they were giving her weekly vitamin injections. Well she ended up in the hospital with severe anemia and double pneumonia. She almost died, lost her job because of it too. she spent Christmas in the hospital. it was bad. The hospital said the injections were mostly water and that's what caused the anemia and caused her immune system to crash, which allowed the pneumonia to hit her so hard. She really should have sued. she couldn't afford a lawyer at the time. She wasn't the only one this happened to at that place either. They closed their doors a couple of months later.

I wanted the surgery, soooo bad. One of my friends lost over 100 lbs after she had it. But, when I filled out all the paperwork, and they checked my insurance, the insurance company said NO. I don't have any of the co-morbidities that they require to justify paying for it. And, I don't have enough money to pay for it cash. So, here we are Sharon, doing it the right way, instead of what is considered the "easy" way. But, it is refreshing to hear what Gz9gig said: it doesn't teach you the right way to eat to maintain it after you lose it. That's the same thing my doctor said when I complained to her. Good for you putting in the work to receive the reward!

Screw the haters there are just bad evil people. You are doing all the right things to lose weight. Your goals, your reasons, are all yours. I hope you achieve all your goals and accomplish your objectives. I wouldn't let what people say are ask brother me. I 've been as high as 400 lbs+ and as low as 163 lbs. My best weight is between 200- 240 lbs. Yes I will still be heavy by government standards. But i will be happy and that is all that matters.

Oh I was told that since I had surgery that I had taken the easy way out. Its not easy. I had the surgery to help with my Crohns and malabsorbtion issues. I am one of the lucky ones. I take no meds for it. I git down to 200 and I had people asking if I was sick.

I love it when folks ask if I had surgery or ask if i'm sick - I usually say something like " Yes I was sick - sick of being way overweight' - I then explain what I did to lose the weight. Doubters will always doubt - I spend as little time as possible on the doubters.

surgery is not the easy way out. my friend did it 2years ago lost 110lbs+ and to this day she still weighs her food and has her journaling times to make sure she stays on track. I wish I would have done it with her 2yrs ago as I still can fit her "fat clothes" she gave me.

At my work the surgery is 100% paid for no questions asked so tons and tons of people have it...I used to know about 3 people personally that had it before I started this new job and now I literally sit in a cubicle surrounded by people that have had it. I have learned tons about it because of this...seen the befores and afters and heard and seen bad experiences and smoother experiences and more loss/less loss and what I've decided is that the surgery is an easy quick fix INITIALLY. But if the person isn't combining it with making healthier choices with their diet they do lose far less than the others that do...and that's sad to see when it happens. I have seen 20+ cases here...I even know a girl that didn't lose!!!!!!! Shocking...and I've also seen and heard of people gaining their weight back...that's sad too. One of my best girlfriends has it and the lowest she ever got was 190 and now she's gaining. I think the surgery gives the quick fix but sadly, because they got rewarded with no effort or learning on their part, they start gaining. If someone gets the surgery and makes healthy changes they are successful...and you HAVE to do that in order to maintain success with the surgery...but one of the benefits of doing it naturally is that you don't take your success for granted because you had no assistance and had to work very very hard right from the get go and I think that that alone is a motivator to maintain a healthy lifestyle and you learn so much along the way

Had a friend that had the gastric. One week out she was trying to figure out what kind of noodles and breads she could eat. I haven't seen in her in years but rest assured, she gained it all back.... So sad, it is a life style change also

Unfortunately, jealousy and envy are a common reaction when some people notice the progress of other people...
