Well, I survived Day 1 of Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet. The only problem that I had today was that despite only eating what I was allowed for the day I still felt hungry all day & still do. Is there anything that I can do to stop feeling hungry without going off the diet? I'm not having any cravings at all, just feeling hungry & no sense of fullness after eating.

There are a ton of things that you can eat without worries! Try leaving a food journal here and ask for suggestions of things that you might like. :) There are some great recipes for meals that are phase 1 ok. :) String cheese (low fat), boiled eggs, cucumbers with lite dip or vinegar and onions, you are welcome to check out my page and look through my "cookbook" for ideas that I've found good. Definitely add in lots of water and you'll feel fuller from that. :) Good luck!

Make sure that you are getting enough protein...that is what works for me. Protein will help keep you feeling full. All you have to do is get through the first two weeks...and I think it is so much harder... During phase 1 I ate a lot of mozzarella cheese, almonds, eggs, lean meats. Just make sure that you are ready for the change, if you don't have it in your head that you are going to make this change for the rest of your life, it will be that much harder to do. I am the same age as you are, and I don't want to get diabetes and not see my daughter grow up. I have had my wake up call...and believe me I am going to listen...
